I've got an early sneak peek for you. On Friday I'll be releasing the next episode of GMTK - which is all about Rollerdrome.
This is an excellent arcade arena shooter, which deftly combines Tony Hawk's and DOOM gameplay - and adds a whole lot of style. So the video looks into some of the game's smart design decisions.
But I also wanted to look at how the game came to be - and its surprising link to this very channel!

If I may be honest, in my personal opinion the zoom + VHS background doesn't work so good. To me it's rather distracting. Of course I don't know about others but since this is the early preview I thought I let you know :). Other then that great video as usual and very interesting. Thank you!

2022-10-18 11:29:25 +0000 UTCExcellent vid, and this is a great follow up to the "merging genres" episode! A shooter excels at combat but movement is typically simple and/or boring. A skater is all about the movement but may feel a bit directionless. So put the two together and BOOM! (literally)
