Doc's Book
Added 2024-09-02 23:58:27 +0000 UTCHey there, lovelies
I am officially halfway done with a poetry collection. So far, everything has been pulled from Patreon [as this is where I dump things].
I have a friend who published his own book successfully and he'll be helping me to get this made.
Couple of questions for you [I have my own opinions on all of these but am curious as to your thoughts]
-Out of the 69 poems would it be fun to maybe have a few you hadn't seen before or is that nbd?
-Anything you'd like to see other than prose/verse/sonnet/haiku?
-Should the audiobook [me reading] be released concurrently or at a later date?
-For physical, it'll be paperback unless you have some wild argument against it
-I purposely do not save Cameo sonnets so none of those will appear - those belong to the folks who ordered them
-Should these prices be lower/higher?
[$6.99 or $8.99 for digital book + audio book] [$12.99 for physical paperback book]
-Anything else?
[Will post a short sonnet later today 😘]

with a bit of my marketing perspective, release the audiobook later than the physical to continue our *anticipation*, yes please excite us with some new prose we haven't seen, you deserve more than $12, up it to $16-$20. audio/digital is a good price ($8), and including some illustrations from NJ would be gold that would melt our (my) heart.

2024-09-05 16:03:42 +0000 UTCFor reference: I paid $12 for someone’s Amazon self-published book of poetry. Just counted and its 28 poems with 13 black and white illustrations (of varying intricacy). (ie I think you could charge more for physical copies. I don’t ebook so can’t offer any specific feedback there.)

2024-09-03 06:39:24 +0000 UTCBooooook! I am more excited than Winnifred Sanderson. YESSSSS. As a Cancer and someone with a 12yo boy's humor, 69 poems? nice. I will never on this Earth say no to new drR words, BUT that is for you to determine if you have the energy, space, time, desire to do so. Maybe new content could instead be in the form of inspiration or a sketch or doodle or song that paired with a few. Low[er] effort but maximum impact. Plus, you know how we clamor for Nurse Joy art content. Lbr, I am a completist so I will purchase all the versions. Same time, later release, it's down to your schedule availability. I agree with others, however. Charge more, please. Digital book...ok 8.99 is good. But with audio narration? That's a 15.99 sitch. Think about what you'd charge for a month of Patreon for someone to comb through and read all your ~collected works and then add a few dollars for the narration part because that's the real treat. Hearing your words in your voice - tone, inflection, how you MEAN for them to be communicated? That takes effort. I'd say 15.99 at least for the physical book, too. This stuff costs money. If you have imposter syndrome (WHICH BTW IS YOUR BRAIN LYING TO YOU) charging that much, bump the cover/paper quality or offer a signed copy. (but fr never have imposter syndrome bc you are worth it.) Also. Maybe we can set up a gifting pool for copies if it's out of the budget for Patrients? That way you get a good idea for preorder numbers and know demand and Patrients can get a [legit and legal] copy for themselves. Times are tight and everyone's fun money situation is different. Just a thought. I know it's probably way out in the timeline. This is such fun news. Lucky us. 💚 Hope you guys weekended super hard!

2024-09-03 03:44:19 +0000 UTCI'd love some surprises that we haven't read and I'm partial to Haiku :) . Your pricing seems pretty low to me. (Though I love Jennay's suggestion of a pretty hardcover for a premium price.) Thinking of paperback poetry books I've bought recently, I'd say at least $18 for print, I'd maybe do digital book and audio separately? $20/audio and $16 for digital? Idk, you want it to be accessible, but your work IS valuable. Whatever you decide will be perfect. Very excited for it! Also love the suggestions to illustrate it with NJ's art. I'd wait for that or maybe that is the hardcover special edition that comes out later if more time needed. 💜💜💜

2024-09-03 01:35:44 +0000 UTCI think it all sounds good. Paperbacks are easy to travel with. The prices seem comparable to what I've seen around, but, hey, it's your work and what ever you think is fair, is fair 💜
