My absolute [unequivocal] favorite song of all time

I told everyone to stay silent while it played. One guy started talking so I paused the music, kicked him out of the entire party and started the song over. No one spoke the second time. It was lovely.

Really great music is timeless. I believe that deeply, and have always had very eclectic musical tastes because of it. Music has the power to cross boundaries, but also evoke recall much like scent. Like your story, it can take me to a very specific time and place, and that deserves reverence. Thanks for the song and the story.

I wouldn’t think so, but this song certainly inspired me to make a “Dancing in the Living Room” playlist so I could have moments reminiscent of the way this song makes me feel… it’s like a framed feeling. On a summer night like that, that wasn't really like that at all, because it was 2022 and we were on a tiny crumbling city terrace in thrift store finds and already deeply in love, we danced to Manhattan Serenade and I sang in his ear and then we kissed forever. Damn, this world continues to be so small but so vast. Very cool that music can travel all of it, huh. Thanks for the goosebumps 💫
