Howdy, Muses

Happy drop day - nothing from the Doc today

[re: the book]

What would you like to read poems about?
What magical/filthy/toxic/wonderful moment would you'd love to see explored?
What's your favorite word?
What's your favorite "boring" thing?

I'm traveling all of today so perhaps we'll scribble some new ones in the shuffle

I know that this isn’t the prompt, but I feel you could definitely run with a campy ā€œdoc’s anatomical guide- 1st editionā€ and just going on about whatever you like about [a? your? my?] body But you can always change it and it’d be like a ā€œ2nd/4th/19th editionā€ per change

I've hit 50 poems thanks to this thread and there's plenty more here to uncover. Thank you so much, team Muse šŸ’œ

As sad as it is, something I think I’d like to hear in a poem the progression of liking one’s own body. So say it starts negative but each stanza we hear them love a new part of themselves and in the see a more confident happy person? Alternatively, I’d love a poem from the male perspective of how they realized they were into curvier/bigger women. Similar to my other suggestion(except start neutral?) šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļøšŸ«£šŸ„“šŸ˜…

In the context of a book of sexy/sensual/dirty poetry: I like to read other peoples’ experiences. I like to see through others’ eyes. I know what happens to me, to my brain chemistry and body, when I look at a person I’m attracted to, or that I love/want/need. I know I I feel and what I think is attractive, but I’d love to know if your ears buzz when you see the swell of an ass cheek under a sheet or your feet flex when a fingertip runs across that one vein. Uh. Etc. Or also fantasies. What superpower would you pick to abuse for [consensual] sex purposes? Have you any long-running ones? Even if impossible, mythical, fantastical, or just unlikely? Like, what kind of sex would you have in a side tunnel in the movie Total Recall (Arnold and Sharon’s obviously) or if you were sleeping with Medusa and she had to keep her eyes closed or else? Those are obviously silly, but as a for instance. šŸ˜‚ and I like silly. I love to laugh, so funny or silly is right where I live. But also super daily stuff and how it makes your bond stronger or how the way she flicks a light switch just makes you want to kiss her forehead and then… whatever… My favorite word is ā€œfuckā€ in almost any context and I’m not sorry. I love the way you use the words ā€œcuntā€ and ā€œgobbleā€ which are maybe not words I’d normally say are favorites. ā€œWorshipā€ is another you use in a particular way that normally would give me, not quite the ick, but maybe make my eyes roll. I fucking hate being bored. Hate. But I love the things that make the quiet spaces in life beautiful instead of boring. The hand on the thigh while you drive to the grocery store. The granola bar he keeps in the truck so you don’t get hangry. The heat on one side of your face when you kiss them next to a bonfire. The song you sang on your first date playing as your ā€œwalk-up songā€ when it’s your turn at your game, whatever. That stuff is life. Not boring to me at all.

Caro, no fucking fair writing poetry to respond to his questions about poetry dammit! You’re too wonderful. *sigh*

In a window, a threshold, one of those liminal spaces where possibility meets architecture, there’s always a pause, a quiet, I think. I want to read about so many things in your words, but maybe the quiet, right now. What do you see first when you see her from a distance, a doorway? When she doesn’t see you? What do you feel? What do you imagine her to feel when she sees you in a quiet moment? I remember when I first saw my lover drawing in an armchair, one leg thrown over the arm like a sleepy child, I felt like I was discovering something cosmic. Like Newton and the apple, I genuinely felt my understanding of our own little world change, somehow. I know that sounds purple or even ridiculous, but how could things be this gentle? This idyllic? We’re both rather tempestuous [passionate?] people; artists, and all. But we both love quiet. His chest moving with slow steady breaths, his pencil dancing over paper, hair mussed and glasses crooked; it was a perfect stillness. I think I stood in that doorway, in t-shirt and socks, hip pressing into wood and warmth pooling in my heart, for minutes. And he didn’t see me till he felt my lips on his forehead. A gift of peripheral lines and quiet feet. It’s one of my favorite vignettes in an album of us. What’s your perfect stillness, if that’s something you seek? What does it sound/smell/taste/feel/look like? What breaks that stillness in favor of heat, motion, passion? Is it lips? Words? Fingertips? Scent? Flashes of that skin only you and she get to feel? Laughter? I don’t mean to lead you, I’m just daydreaming now. A favorite word feels impossible, but among them is Yes [my first word, incidentally]. Another is moonlight. Boring boring boring…hmm. Riding the metro [subway] in my city. Mundane/routine is a better way of putting it, as it is rarely ever boring. The movements are mechanical, methodical—muscle memory mixed with street-smarts and observation. But the people-watching is life in action, so many stories to be imagined. And the listening…music, conversation, altercation, thundering tracks, you…well, what a list. Can’t wait to read you.

What would I like to read about? Real life shit, man. Whatever pops into that brilliant brain of yours, we will gobble up. Feral, sweet, anything in between. How you felt when falling in love or how you felt when you said I do is something I’d like to see explored. My favorite word is fuck, I sprinkle it on everything. My favorite boring thing to do is curl up on the couch or my bed and read.

Analise

You’ve called us all sorts of names, but Muses is the first one that’s made me flutter my eyelashes and smooth my hair behind my earsā˜ŗļø Ironic, since you have been the muse to so many of us….šŸ’œ So: Sing to me about losing yourself in the moment (or any moment where you are honest about the animal angel devil you are). Write about antici Pation, Boring things? Morning birds just before the sun rises both of us still sore and panting Even in our sleep Or Listening to cars passing intermittently on the almost empty city street below our window after it’s rained And sitting at the table creating with you - food, legos, stories or on the couch (smiling at our stockinged feet resting next to each other on the coffee table). We know my favorite word is fuck, especially in its adjectival form, but any word is my favorite if it’s spoken with longing or truth or both. I still think about Jean and her colorful glasses or. walking out of lush and changing her schedule - the inner longing of both those women Spoken with appreciation hunger and empathy. Now go write beautiful wordsongs my fucking muse

hope your travels have been safe, fun and as painless as possible šŸ’• (unless you’re exploring that kind of masochism in which case…to the pain)

Uh-oh. The ā€œboringā€ question made me too exited. Here goes: My favorite ā€œboringā€ thing is slow TV. It’s a real staple here. Its prime was in 2011 with a 134 hour live broadcast of Hurtigruten. ā€œA coastal voyage from Bergen to Kirkenesā€. It was broadcasted to NRK, the national TV-station in Norway. It followed the whole journey of Hurtigruten (the ship) non-stop for seven days. You see a lot of beautiful scenery, the fjords and Lofoten which is a stunning place with midnight sun in the summer. I had just finished high school and it was the first week of summer break. I did a lot of partying those days, and went to a lot of nachspiels (or after-parties). Every bar and club closes at 02:30 and you can’t buy alcohol after 20:00 in stores here (18:00 on Saturdays, and not at all on Sundays), so on a night out at closing time we’d always find someone who’d invite people home after, preferably someone who had something more to drink (don’t judge we were young and poor). But ā€œhaving alcoholā€ being the main criteria for joining an after party does end you up at some weird places. The week this broadcast was going [24/7] without fault every nachspiel we ended up at had the Hurtigruten-broadcast on. And you’d have a bunch of fairly inebriated and/or high people, no music and just this live stream of the ship’s journey on the TV. At one of the nachspiels we ended up at, two people started fighting (a punch was thrown) because the [very drugged out] host wanted people to stop talking and watch as the boat sailed across a particularly beautiful part. So we all just ended up in silence, half gagging on this horrible homemade wine, watching the beautiful midnight sun and the northern Norwegian scenery on TV. Over the years I’ve seen the guy who hosted that nachspiel (it’s a small city, we met at a lot of [after]parties in my early days), life hasn’t been kind to him, but when we’ve talked since it’s always been about that night and how weird and kinda sweet that whole week of the broadcast was. Kinda like a national [very slow] TV festival. This turned out much longer than intended, but I swear slow TV is the best ā€œboringā€ thing there is imo. Don’t even get me started on the social aspect of it [bringing that journey to people who for whatever financial or other reasons can’t just book a ticket and go themselves].

This is so fucking helpful thank you. 2 more have already materialized as a direct result 🄰
