Prompt #4

[describe your first kiss in great detail]

Next week is Prompt #29
------

[non-fiction]

I was young [probably a bit too young but that ship had already sailed] and it happened in the park I grew up by.

ZZ scared me quite a bit. She was brash, oversexualized [looking back on it there were some troublesome signs] and quite curvy. She acted out a lot and I was a good kid [I hated being in trouble]. And yet, that common ground of sexual intrigue formed an inextricable link. We were connected by our lustful desires. The only difference being she seemed to have some real world experience where as mine was only in my dreams [and what dreams they were].

We were at rehearsal for the musical after school. I was standing on the wall waiting for a cue and ZZ stood on front of me. She started bouncing her ass on my pelvis. The harder I got, the harder she pressed. She kept grinding and I almost came before a teacher yelled at her to get off of me. She was taken away to be scolded and I have the feeling my notable embarrassment saved me from the same fate.

what the fuck just happened?

I sometimes saw her at the park and now the sexual tension was too great to last. Something needed to be done and I sure didn't know what to do. So, in a way which was mostly terrifying and a bit exciting, ZZ straddled me on the bench and started making out with me.

She put my hands on her head and her hair felt different than what I was used to. The tongue, the texture of her lips, her hair - it was all so confusing. I remember thinking, "I am growing up right now, this is one of those moments."

Yes, the tongue was a surprise and [tbh] a little invasive and unpleasant but her lips were the star of the show. ZZ had such luxurious and plnetiful lips that felt like how you imagine a cloud would. She sometimes wore black lipstick [but not lately]. I didn't even know you could get black lipstick.

Any protestations were quickly drowned by the softness of her lips. I think it all lasted several weeks and yet only seconds later she jumped off me. Once again, my pants significantly tighter. I wanted her to be naked lying down next to me.

It was broad daylight at a public park and that fact seemed suddenly to dawn on both of us. She hopped off me and her fingertips grazed my erection as she went. She smiled at me, mostly mercurial but a little sad. Then she left. I went home and masturbated furiously.

Not sure what happened to ZZ. She dropped out of the show shortly after and went to a different high school. I hope she's doing well.

I'd like to update my kiss story.... last time mine was sad and forced, this time however... October 2nd this year... I got off my 3rd airplane in less than a 24 hour period, and stepped foot in Romania where I'd meet in person the man I've been closest to for the past 10+ years online. He took me to dinner at his parents house, then back to the apartment we'd be staying at.. he took everything out of my hands and sat it down and pulled me to him. He looked at my face so tenderly and caressed my shoulders and said "oh my gorgeous girl, I can't believe you're finally here" and then he cupped my face and he kissed me gently. He pulled back to make sure it was ok and when he saw me grinning like a possum eating briers, he kissed me longer and harder and way more intense. It kinda feels like our first kiss lasted the entire 2 weeks and 5 days on and off and ended with tears at the airport as we said our goodbyes for now until we can plant to meet up again. It might have taken 41 years, but it was worth the wait.

I was 11, his name was Oliver and he was 13. His grandparents lived down the street from us and he came from Austria for the summer. His younger cousin and my little brother terrorized us whenever we would hang out together. We would go on walks after dinner every night and talk about everything and nothing at the same time. He was the cutest boy I'd seen and when most boys my age were my height, or shorter than me, Oliver made me feel small. We would walk around the entire neighborhood, holding hands every evening, but once the streetlights came on, I had to go in. The night before he was leaving (they were going to Disneyland and he would return home from there) I didn't want to go in. We were down the street from my house just standing there looking at each other. He had the prettiest blue eyes and chocolate brown hair that flopped on his forehead. I hugged him and turned to leave and he held onto my hand and pulled me back to him. He leaned in and planted his lips on mine and it was over before I could process what happened. He walked me back to my house and hugged me at the door. I never saw Oliver again but I hope he's doing well.

This is beautiful. ❤️

Annie [not her real name] and I first met when we were high school seniors spending the night at a college we planned to attend the following year. She was and is still gorgeous. She was quiet, but her big brown eyes and big smile said it all. Her curvy, voluptuous body shape set up what I continue to find attractive in women to this day. She has an Eddie Murphy-esque laugh that I found endearing. Our "big sisters" for the overnight didn't really hang out as they ran in different circles, so we didn't spend a lot of time together, but she was memorable. In the summer between my freshman and sophomore years, I worked at a drug store. While organizing the greeting card aisle, I found this card that was blank, but the outside set it up for expressing your feelings to someone. I bought it not knowing if I'd ever use it, but it seemed perfect. Fast forward to spring semester of our sophomore year. Despite going into very different majors, Annie and I belong in the same friend circle and hang out often, including belonging to the campus LGB group [I'm an old and "TQ2SIA+" weren't part of the acronym back then]. Since I was a kid, I very much knew I had a physical/sexual attraction to women, but as a young adult, it was still very new territory for me. I didn't really have much experience with men at that point. I was incredibly green, but knew Annie was the most perfect person. She was also still finding her footing and navigating who she was attracted to. [Leaves out a lot of stuff about how we watched queer movies together to keep this from becoming a novella.] My crush on her grew even though I didn't know if the feeling was mutual. One night, I pulled out that drug store card and poured it all out. I put the card in the envelope and committed to giving it to Annie soon. While having dinner in the dining hall together with our friends, I handed her the card, but said, "Read that in private because I don't know how you'll respond." A few hours later, one of our mutual off-campus friends — who was already an out and proud lesbian — calls me. "Sooooo Annie wants to meet up with you, what are you doing tonight?" Nervously, I accepted because I didn't know what this meant. We ended up going to a diner. Our mutual friend picked me up and took me to there. Annie was already there as I recognized her car in the parking lot. She was smiling and handed me a card. "Open it." Thus began our somewhat unconventional relationship. When the spring semester ended, Annie went home for the summer while I stayed on campus doing an internship. We wrote and sent each other cards and letters in the mail until she was able to plan a visit during the summer. I had a room to myself that summer and looked forward to her visit and being close to her. She drove down for a weekend. I had ordered pizza and had it warming in the oven when she arrived. After putting her things in the room, we returned to the kitchen. I wrapped my arms around her waist to give her a big hug and her face nuzzled into my neck. I could feel her lips on my neck. I shifted my head down to meet her lips. Her lips were *so* soft and her tongue knew what to do with mine. The pizza ended up being a bit crunchy, but edible [we were broke college students]. Our relationship lasted a couple of months. I was about to do a study abroad program and she wasn't really ready for a physical relationship. We remained friendly for a while, but then life happens and we drifted apart. Funny enough, Annie and I now live on the same side of the country, but I haven't seen her in over a decade. Last I recall, she's married to a guy and seems to be thriving and doing important work. I still have those cards and letters from her in a box.

This is beautiful! I'd read the hell out of this novel "Lily and Raoul" ❤️

Carrie A (Earserosera)

So since I can’t remember my first kiss here’s a fictional account as I would have wished it to be as a 15 year old in 1997 (Blame Dawson’s Creek, Buffy and My So Called Life). I was the nerdy, daydreaming fat girl that no one ever looked at in ‘that way’. He was the moody alternative boy that read Sylvia Plath and everyone at high school daydreamed about. Sometimes I felt like he was watching me, but I always convinced myself that it was either a scornful gaze or a trick of the light. One day as I walked past my school bullies, keeping my head down as always, I was tripped up. The hallway erupted in laughter as the popular kids congratulated themselves for making my day worse. A second later though Raoul stormed over and told them to back off and leave me alone. His hand reached for my book of transcendental poems just as I did the same - I felt a jolt of energy and pulled my hand away. “I’m sorry about those assholes”, he said, handing me the book. “Cool book, do you like poetry?” I nodded. “You should come to the poetry slam at the jazz cafe tonight, I’m gonna perform and I’d love you to be there”. “R-really?” I stuttered, shyly. “Really”, he replied. “Look, I’ve uh, had a crush on you for months now and now I’ve finally worked up the nerve to talk with you, I don’t want to miss my opportunity” *Several hours later* “Raoul, that was amazing, rapping your poems was so cool and provocative but at the same time making poetry more accessible to young people! You should enter the state competition!” I said excitedly as he walked towards me with a smouldering look. “It’s all for you; you inspired me.”He replied. “I can’t wait any longer, can I kiss you?” I blushed and nodded, tucking my hair behind my ear. His face slowly came towards me, we both closed our eyes and I felt a gentle touch, like silk, across my lips. My heart was beating so fast - how could the most gorgeous boy at school want to kiss me, the school loser? His kiss was soft but firm, he licked the seam of my mouth and my lips parted. Stars seemed to burst and I could hear ‘Kiss Me’ by Sixpence None the Richer playing on a speaker somewhere. Nothing was the same after that night, Raoul’s friends took me under their wing and we spent the rest of high school writing terrible poetry about and to each other, he taught me so much, and I’ll never forget him.

Carrie, I love how you wrote the nervousness that comes with firsts [that second paragraph...beautiful!] and concluded with the reverie and triumph felt in the wake of a good moment. Also, what a crush roster. Fully immersed in the details of these long-coated brooders. ❤️

Seeing this has made me realise I don’t remember my first kiss! I guess that means it wasn’t very memorable, or at least doesn’t match the image of what I think a first ever kiss should be (think American teen show/film filled with hormones and angst).

Andlikewaterlilies

My freshman year of college I worked at a Pizza Ranch [in addition to multiple on campus jobs]. I worked front of house, this girl A and a variety of others I grew to become friends with worked back of house. A was a very broody, short hair with an almost Karen style swoop [she rocked it because she was punk(ish) and hot] and your gaydar would be confused by her because it felt like she was a lesbian but it also didn’t. A was never friends with anyone from Pizza Ranch despite working there for a while before I came around. At first when I started, we were both quiet, but as time goes on[for me] and I get comfortable-I start to become very outgoing, funny, and likable. And as I did-A came around started teasing me and bantering with me and we developed a friendship. Well-I also developed a crush, but I was straight[at the time]. I lowkey was convinced that A had a crush on me, and told myself that’s the only reason I lowkey had a crush on her. Fast forward, I do eventually find out she is straight [and at the time fuck-buddies with one of her roommates, which they are now married]. The following year she’s going to have transferred to a technical school for interior design a town over [an hour away]. So our little Pizza Ranch friend group threw her a going away her together. We drank, danced, hung out, etc. Well as we are all riled up dancing around-Amanda is piggy back on someone, she looks down at me[I up at her] and she kisses me. It was very whimsical and wholesome [which was instantly ruined by all the straight boys yelling in excitement, demanding for us to do it again.] [We did really quick but they wanted pictures and we were too quick for them.] To this day she still hypes me up on instagram posts, and tells me how hot I am[don’t worry her husband knows].🥰😌😉

Kari Jo

This is so lovely! (And the world did feel so different before 9/11. I feel you there, back in time.)

Carrie A (Earserosera)

[I missed the 3rd person omniscient bit, too late now] My first kiss was at the age of 15 in the Spring of 2001, in what now can be generally recognized by most of everyone as BEFORE THE WORLD CHANGED. I hate to be that old person that says this but I swear before 9/11 the world felt different. Anyways. I was wearing bootcut jeans cut too long for my legs, even though I had grown 3 inches that year, so that the hems were frayed from dragging the ground. Frayed from being stepped on by knockoff skater shoes that would never in life step on a skateboard. I would get my first pair of Vans that Fall and wear them until I was walking on cement, but at this point I still hadn’t convinced my mom that the brand name ones were important. My friend Jo had asked me out (my 39 yr old brain rolls her eyes and says “Asked out where? Stop.”) the previous day. Male, no e at then end, which caused him endless grief. Jo had already “dated” a few of my friends, our little circle of nerds was small and we tended to be insular since we took all the same classes and generally spent all of our time with the same 30 people. It was apparently my turn and he asked me out after school on Wednesday before we went home and then showed up to walk me to class on Thursday. He walked me to each class, which was very sweet. I knew that he did this for all his girlfriends, but it was still lovely, as I’d never been walked to class before. We walked to each class, not really talking much but holding hands, even though he was much taller and it was a bit awkward. And then outside of C Hall before 3rd period, where he was going to have to split off, he pulled me to him and kissed me. I had been expecting it in some corner of my mind, I have always been an overthinker who runs through every scenario just in case. But it was also unexpected in some ways to suddenly have someone else’s tongue in my mouth. He was tall, over 6 ft. already, and swooped down over me like some kind of bird of prey. That’s probably not fair, but it felt like that. His mouth tasted coppery. I know now that he probably didn’t brush his teeth that morning. His tongue felt too slick and too big on my tongue and in my mouth. My knees wobbled and stayed wobbly walking the rest of the way to biology. Even though it was not a good kiss, I was viciously aroused (I may have been a nerd but I was one who read romance novels at an alarming rate). My lab partner Kris (male, with a K that caused him no end of grief) was a skinny redhead I’d had a crush on all year but with whom I was just barely a friend, could just barely talk to, as shy as I was as a kid. He noticed I was wobbly and blushing and off. And I told him I’d just had my first kiss (I don’t know where I came up with the balls to say that to him honestly) and he was incredibly sweet about it and talked me through it and asked if I was ok. I told him I was and it was nice but that it also kind of weirded me out and maybe I wasn’t ready. That sweet boy told me not to do anything I wasn’t comfortable with (and a few weeks later he dissected the spring project frog by himself without making me touch it at all for which I was even more grateful). And I broke up with Jo before the end of the day, although we stayed friends easily, and in fact I danced with him at our 10 yr reunion and I run into him every few years. It’s a sweet sort of memory now, even though I feel as far from that shy girl as could be possible. She exists in me somewhere I think. Probably hiding.

So much love to you doc. This was beautifully written. So clearly conveyed the confusion and conflicting emotions of the situation. And the part about not wanting to get in trouble, oh boy, do I identify. 💜💜💜

Carrie A (Earserosera)

It was the style at the time for nerdy skater boys to wear long wool trench coats from the Army/Navy surplus store. He was wearing a green one. She has no memory of what she was wearing. Their first date was the movie Aladdin. (She was nuts for Disney). After the movie, he dropped her off. He got out of the car and she thanked him for the date and gave him a quick hug (they were already friends) but she was 17 and had never been kissed and was thinking it might happen that night and worried it would and worried it would not and longing for it but nervous and very awkward so she pulled away quickly and started walking down the sidewalk to the house. "Carrie," he said. She turned back to him and that coat was billowing in the cold wind and he was spotlit under the streetlight. Suddenly he was Humphrey Bogart and John Cusack and the Duke from whatever romance novel she had just read, all rolled into one. "I'm not going to let you get away that easily", he said. "Come here." She walked back, mesmerized by the commanding tone (from this boy!) and the coat and the magic of Tim Rice and Alan Menken, probably. She tipped her head up and he kissed her sweetly and she couldn't stop smiling about for days and days.
