I saw a production of this in [city] once and I learned what a 'showstopping number' was. I wasn't super stoked to see it but I got cheap tickets and great seats so why not? When my dude sang Music of the Night I forgot where I was. I forgot I was watching a show. Everything melted away and there was only that song. Then it ended and my initial reaction was almost that of anger being brought back into the real world. The rest of the show was very good too but nothing topped that song. Theatre can be pretty neat sometimes.
I promise we'll start November with some hyper realistic filth & the like but I got a few more of this tone in me for October and I can't apologize for who I am

Never apologize for the camp or for being who you are! We clearly love it. And from the comments here, it seems like there are a bunch of theatre kids in the ward, myself included. Love the audio, it was so much fun! And I want all my orgasms to be punctuated by organ music from now on, to give them the gravitas they deserve.

2024-10-13 02:28:22 +0000 UTCI listened to phantom religiously as a preteen, my very goth babysitter got me and my siblings into it. I loved it so much! Perfect for my melodramatic soul. Finally saw it performed for the first time on Broadway 30 years later and I went in sort of cynically expecting this campy, dated relic and while it was very "of it's time," musically with the electric guitars, (be still my late 80s loving heart) and some of the set pieces were pretty worn out, I was gobsmacked at how incredible it was. Gobsmacked. This brought all that back in the best way. I loved the self awareness and the inside jokes and the consent! Perfection!

I was traveling today and did I have to pull over halfway through listening because I had to stop operating a moving vehicle? Maybe. Never apologize for being campy or for who you are in general. You should know by now that we don't come here for your simplicity.

I’m not a theater kid (student athlete😁), though I’ve always envied people who had the opportunity and confidence to be able to get up on a stage and pour their heart into a performance over and over again. Taking on so many different forms on stage and off stage, actors are like professional shapeshifters for a living and that’s so cool! Thank you for the bringing camp back and making it better than ever😉 Second and a bit more feral: this guy? This character guy was doing a hell of a lot of whimpering and I’m gnawing at my metaphorical enclosure.
