My [first] Favorite Blues Song

I don't know what my [current] favorite would be, but this was my first. It just hits different.

Probably something about being a kid and hearing those first few lyrics thinking, damn I really am going to be a blues man

I love the blues. You're never truly alone when you're listening to the blues - even if it's just a recording. It's the unashamed expression of feelings we were told to be embarrassed for having. It's saying "let's be lonely together" to a room of strangers. It's screaming into the void and the void responds "same"

My [first] Favorite Blues Song

Ahh the blues.. one of the first influencers.. Because of the blues, we have: R&B, hip-hop, jazz, baby. Rock n fuckin roll. My favorite music, salsa, is the love child of Jazz and Rock. Grateful for the blues.

I saw Etta James in the early 2000s. She put on a show that I will never forget as long as I live. Her voice was so full and raw… so many adjectives I could keep going and still not do it justice. She lived her songs.

The Lady Is A Tramp

Mmmm Blues is what I put on when I don’t know what I want to listen to. When nothing else works, blues always does. It’s always the right vibe.

The Lady Is A Tramp

Polyjamerous has now become my favorite word.

Spirited Cricket

My dad was polyjamerous with his music, I can thank him for a great many things and my diverse taste in music is one of them. I know it’s probably too commercial, but BB King’s β€œThe Thrill is Gone” is my favorite blues song πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ And Blues Brothers is classic!!

Analise

This is random but it's what came to mind when I saw your post: There was a blues brothers themed McDonald's in the tristate area and I was so bummed when I heard they remodeled it.

Good morning blues travelers and void echoes. The blues, standards and novelty songs - the soundtrack to The Void aka this clinic and the chats πŸ’œπŸ’–πŸ’œ

I grew up alongside a once mighty canal that, despite no longer transiting coal, still employed a lockkeeper. His name was Biff and he lived in a tiny lockhouse that always smelled like oil paint and pipe tobacco. Biff played the guitar like the devil danced between his fingers. And on the trombone, he was just filthy. He was the Blues Man of the Lock. And he was as generous with his music as he was with his smile. When I was in conservatory for cello, I'd visit Biff on weekends. He taught me about riffing and feeling it, and with him I could shed the back brace of my training for something more soulful. And I’ll always love him for it. Blues has held my hand ever since. Never truly alone indeed. Well said, Doc. Bonne nuit πŸ’œ

I grew up on the Blues Brothers movies. My dad was pretty sure he and John Belushi were souls separated at birth. I also watched Animal House many many more times than the average 12 yr old year. And both my dad and stepdad- separately- were obsessed with BB King, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Etta James, Bonnie Raitt… it all makes me feel all the things.

I have a really vivid memory of the first blues song I remember hearing, my dad - he’s a real blues man - playing Mannish Boy by Muddy Waters on the record player when I was about five, I used to ask for him to play it all the time, his voice still sends shivers down my spine.

I've always liked being a night owl. Something about being awake when most of the world is asleep calms and tingles my brain. πŸ¦‰πŸŒ›
