I fucking love magic.
Dennis Watkins is a magician in Chicago who you really should check out. He's 3rd generation or something. Does an amazing show at the Palmer House. It's not cheap, but it's in-fucking-credible and all quite intimate.
I did a lot of movement work in college but most of it was lost on me. My current relationship with my body is much more bodymind than it previously was. Fitzmaurice tremor work always seemed a bit out there to me until the day I full on hallucinated and started crying my eyes out for no real reason other than [likely] some sort of deep trauma was released.
Yoga is pretty magical to me these days. The room we take our class in is very much like my old movement room in college. I leave feeling like a different person than when I came in. My body and my mind are always more united and in sync.
I will confess to you, my beauty, that I don't believe in magic [persay]. I have been the person who makes the balloons drop on New Years. I have been the apparition in the haunted house. I have been the voice that brings you hope. I have also been the voice that gloats at your defeat. And I'm not unique or special in this way - there's a ton of us and there always has been.
Performing magic is easy, you just step outside of life and start to move things around and everyone stuck inside ooo's and ahh's because they think they can't do what you do.
Some of them can't, I suppose, for reasons only known to them. But we magicians all need an audience so I guess it works out

I listened to this while on a walk in a dark quiet wood, seeking time alone to be not really alone, if that makes sense. A perfect landscape for the little witch, I think. Kata, the guided connection of selves/energies and the body’s labyrinth, met with your powerful and reverent interpretation and performance, Doc, built such an absorbing, intense, hypnotic, and sensual journey. I do not often think of my body and its systems in terms of magic, but sensations like goosebumps, blushing, the satisfying pull of a good stretch, the system shock of pleasure then wash of calm after sex…sparks dancing on connective tissues there. Encapsulated by the prompts to “take your body with us” and “show me your power.” Brilliant, you two. Another listen later, yes please. Also, "Did you see the stars you made? I did” in a breathy whisper with an awe-filled chuckle is all-around electric. Fuck. Must hold onto that for future musing. Thank you!

But energy and connection and the power of the mind to create some crazy body sensations, that's something different. I really truly loved listening to this in your voice, Doc. And I probably loved the bits best where you went wild with it. Energy, chi, chakras all relate to energy fields electrons that influence us in ways we know, others we do not. Whether you’re measuring energy with lab instrumentation or how well you feel after a reiki healing energy is not created or destroyed. This is magic to me. I’m of both worlds of science & Mother Earth magic. Does magic have to be seen to exist when so much of it is electron biology and environmental reactions. The brownie I just ate was also magical so maybe my stream of consciousness thoughts don’t make sense. I was besmutten with Kat’s script and loved hearing you talk about chakras.
