Prompt 43 [part 8]

Something was going on with the Jacks.

This morning at her birthday party, no one tried to kill her. This went against routine. Every morning, the Queen woke up to celebrate her birthday. Every day she ate cake and opened presents for breakfast. And every day, at least one Jack would try to assassinate her. But not today, and that was unusual.

Idiot and Dumbass were terribly bored. Stopping the Jacks exercised something in them that would otherwise cramp. The Queen didn't want them to cramp.

"Di, Dumb?" [That's what the Queen called them]

The twins looked up at her. Or was it down on her? She couldn't quite tell

"See anything suspicious this morning?"

"Our eyes have scoffed no enmonious plots, my Queen."

"Yes, as per not the normality, we sassertain no factions"

She hated to admit it, but she found their maligned vocabulary charming [lots of dangerous people are charming]

"The Jacks are up to something... I can tell. I think a little reconnaissance is needed..."

Any other thugs worth their muscle would have taken the hint, but Dumbass and Idiot didn't know what reconnaissance meant. After a couple of seconds, The Queen deduced this.

"Would you boys mind looking around the castle?" she asked directly.

"As is our pavlov"

"Yes, Majinasty"

"Here - let me get the door for you two"

Something was a foot [other than feet] and The Queen intended to find out what. Well. she intended Di and Dumb to find out what. She had this odd feeling that the Jacks wouldn't be there tomorrow, either. So she started making plans for the day.

"I suppose if no one wants to kill me, that's fine. I'll just have to entertain myself. I think tomorrow for breakfast I would like eggs and toast... with NO cake and NO presents"

There was [seemigly] no one else in the room, and The Queen stopped to wonder who she was talking to. She remembered the previous matriarch would often talk to herself, and so she continued to plan her un-birthday in her head. It would be a very merry un-birthday, indeed
