2024-06-11 01:43:12 +0000 UTCWhat I really love about this arc is something that was done pretty well in Water 7, and that's mystery. Oda does a fantastic job of drip feeding information. He's acheived a balance where he gives us barely enough to advance the story and yet also gives us enough to keep us interested. What's more, he manages to make moments that seem insignificant now have major ramifications down the line. As a result, people love to speculate and theorize about the show. It genuinely gives me a headache trying to imagine how Oda keeps all these storylines coordinated neatly. It reminds me of another One Piece reactor I watch called 'Jack the Bus'. He started what he calls his "One Piece Wall". He's got the entire wall next to his computer setup covered in post-it notes about different characters and plot points. He'll sometimes pause in the middle of an episode to reference the wall. It's like a crazed detective in a true crime show, but it genuinely makes sense considering how vast and complex this world is. Also, just a sidenote, but I forgot how terrifying Ryuma's introduction is. He disarms the straw hats by acting silly like Brook, then he casually defeats three people in an instant, so fast they didn't even feel it at first. Mihawk might be the strongest swordsman, but Ryuma was ruthless. If Ryuma hadn't been ordered to take them alive, they'd be dead, and there's not a thing they could've done to stop him.

My only regret for this arc is that I wasn't a young teenage boy when I first saw Perona because I'm sure younger me would have been in love with her lol

Which means we already met most of them: Mihawk & Crocodile which we had encounters with, Gecko Moria just now and another two we only saw briefly at the Warlord meeting at Mary Geoise back in episode 151. Things are getting tense on Thriller Bark with Sanji gone, Nami, Usopp and Chopper captured and the Generals who have just been awakened! I guess we kind of spoiled Brook being a nakama but whatever Yohohohoho! lol, we all know Luffy will make him join, whether he likes it or not. There was one kind of crew member Luffy wanted since the beginning (and it was not a cook, surprisingly) He wanted a musician. And then Brook showing up, there was no way heβs not joining the crew. I just also just paid attention to thank u credits and I didnβt know that about 80% of us are legends? Thatβs so cool
