Before, they showed the characters that would be relevant in the second half of the episode, but then they started being pretty random, so the guessing game right now is really...well, just "guessing".

2024-07-04 03:31:12 +0000 UTCThis is one of the reasons why I may watch a lot of anime but I always come back to OP and consider it my favourite. It's the only one where the world goes on, irrespective of our SH crew. Hatchi is an example, he was doing his thing in the background while we went on all sort of adventures. Or Ace being captured and imprisoned...lots happens in the background. It gives you the feeling the world is moving on his own, like it would in real life. Also, the characters are not all black or white and they feel more real that way. They may be doing the wrong thing for a seemingly good reason or have good intentions and so this adds more shades to them than just plain black or white.

Thinking about it, he definitely is the best character to try to redeem like this, so it's cool that Oda is seemingly (as far as we can tell so far) doing that here. Hachi always seemed a little ditzy and probably more easily influenced by a passionate fishman like Arlong.

I had a shock when I found out Hatchi was still around, trying to get on with his life by opening a food shop after the defeat in Arlong Park! And yes, he was the most likeable of the bunch, but still, he was a bad guy, he did horrible things, but seeing him so protective of Cami, really made me have a second thought about him. Being willing to give him a second chance was the moment I realised that I should expect to come to love characters I previously hated while watching OP! And that's some great writing, right there! Regarding Duval, I laughed so hard the first time I watched this episode when I saw his face!!! 🤣 I just could not believe there was a doppelganger of Sanji's poster....so funny! 🤣🤣

BUT you two both know by now that things can pick up quickly and go in a direction that is extremely entertaining and absolutely bananas :) We'll just have to see where this one goes..

Oda repeatedly shadows the characters to make them more mysterious, but his characters are so unique you are always able to recognize them, I love it!
