I love the scene where Reiner's family looks horrified at his story about the "island devils". They are horrified not because the story was scary but because it was so mundane. By Reiner's descriptions, these just sound like normal every day people. Theyre supposed to be devils, right? Being there gave Reiner a new perspective, outside of the brainwashing that Eldians have been taught by Marley.

U guys gave me a headache and lots of laughter tho. lol. If it helps, u guys should rewatch the episodes in English dub. So ure not just reading, comprehending and looking at the scenes all at the same time. It’s easier for us who’ve been watching anime for so long, so might be a lil harder for u guys who are babies to anime. It’s all good, we understand. That’s why we’re here to help. Def rewatch in dub if u guys can. On another note, we gotta give it to Gabi for saving 800 Eldians from dying when she did what she did. It’s so difficult to swallow that Marleyans are probably breeding Eldians so they can be soldiers in their wars. They’re expendable and just a number.

Anyways, since everyone explained to you about the start being 4 years later I'll skip that part. Instead I'll elaborate on a few other details covered in episodes 1-2. The 5 kids that were introduce are named Colt, Falco, Gabi, Zofia, and Udo. They are warrior candidates for the nation of Marley. Falco, Gabi, Zofia, and Udo are the younger warrior candidates competing against each other to see if one of them can inherit the Armored Titan. Colt is the older kid that follows Zeke around because he set to inherit the Beast Titan and he is also Falco's older brother. Gabi, the girl who threw the bundle of grenades to derail the armored train, is actually Reiner's cousin. Commander Theo Magath, a former gunnery officer, is the guy who runs the Titan candidate recruitment program for the nation of Marley. He's the officer that you see in the trenches in episode 1 that Gabi convinced to allow her to pull off the crazy plan to blow up the armored train. Also when Reiner is pressing Falco on the train about his comments regarding Gabi, and her potentially inheriting the Armored Titan, he is doing it partly to motivate Falco because he also doesn't want her to inherit the Armored Titan. As this would mean his little cousin Gabi would end up having only 13 years to live. Never mind the fact that she would have to be turned into a Pure Titan so that she could eat Reiner to inherit his Titan power. Also Reiner is doing Falco a favor by ensuring he doesn't get used to talking out of turn so openly about the topic. Doing so could get Falco in big trouble if a hardnosed Marylean officer were to hear him disparage the act of serving Marley as one of the Nine. Regarding the scene at the dinner table where Gabi's parent's are asking Reiner what it was like to live amongst the "Island Devils". Well that scene is supposed to convey that Reiner can't really come up with anything bad to say. Why? Because deep down he knows Eren and the gang aren't bad people. This is why when he tells them about Sasha's potato incident, and about everyone else, it isn't that convincing in terms of painting them as "DEVILS". Lastly, near the end of episode 2 at the meeting with Zeke, Reiner, Porco Galliard (The Jaw Titan) and Pieck Finger (The Cart Titan) you hear them talk about Willie Tybur and the Tybur family. The Tybur family are actually Eldian nobles. They turned on King Fritz during the Titan wars and aided the nation of Marley to help push out the King as the story goes. Their noble house controls and passes down the Warhammer Titan. They have a special relationship with the nation of Marley that will be hinted at in episode 4 (63). See if either of you can figure it out. Hint: Pay attention to the conversations between Commander Magath and the Willie Tybur.

Right after Reiner finished talking about our island devils it’s quick but some random Eldian soldier commits suicide (ptsd most likely) he jumps of a building and when Reiner and gabby are walking and talking you can see a group of people hurdled together there looking at the dead guy😱

But there’s definitely a time skip of 4 years between end of season 3 and beginning of season 4. Knowing this now will definitely help going forward with the rest of the season. Get ready for a non stop final season, I’m so excited for you guys to finish AOT.

Reiner and Zeke came back to Marley having lost Bertholt and Annie. The Army then redeployed them to other wars that they’ve been fighting. We have no idea yet what’s been happening to Erin, Armin, and Mikasa during that time. Also, the guy in the past was Eren Krueger, not Eren Yeager.

2024-07-31 20:16:38 +0000 UTCGoing on simultaneously (sort of), not a flashback.😂 It’s confusing cuz it feels like a whole different show, paired with MAPPA as the new animation studio. Lots of info for our new setting & characters in Marley. They mentioned the mission to take back the Founding Titan was 9 years ago (when the Collosal & Armored Titans first attacked in S1 ep1). That means this is 4 years after where we left off at the end of S3. Also, Reiner, Bertholdt, & Annie were just kids when they originally went to Paradis to recapture the Founding Titan; that’s the flashback you saw in S2 where Ymir ate their friend & stole the titan power from Galliard’s brother. Galliard is the Jaw Titan—which used to belong to Ymir—thus, how he was able to see Ymir’s memories & how Reiner behaved when he was on Paradis as a member of the Scouts.

Reiner looks older because they're getting ready to pass his Titan to someone else. When Reiner talks about his experiences on the island, he's referring to the events of season one. What's amazing about that scene is that everyone expects him to describe a bunch of psychopathic savages, just like Marley propaganda says. But instead, he talks about Sasha eating a potato and how Eren is an idiot, he literally couldn’t find a single bad thing he could say about them. He lived with them and realized they're just people like him. You can see everyone’s shock, and Reiner’s mom jumps in to do damage control when Gabi questions the propaganda. When Gabi says, "What do you mean there were all kinds of people? They’re all bad people, right?" His mom immediately reinforces the brainwashing.

I’m sure I’ll love this, especially what I’m seeing from the story and voice acting! But great choice on song!😊
