Those kids could have been isolated for very serious medical reasons. Nami however has a soft spot for kids and her female (or motherly) instincts told her something was off. At least this is how I saw it.

Not to mention many of them are giant sized so the Sunny might not be able to fit them. So honestly I agreed with Franky and Sanji more so then Nami. Not that I don't feel for the kids, but the kids want to go home. In the real world if we encountered all these kids, you would be able to hand them over to the appropriate authorities to deal with it. However in the One Piece world, they don't have that luxury, especially since the authorities are the Strawhat's enemies, so the Strawhats will need to drop off every kid themselves. So I always felt Sanji and Franky were being realistic, in this situation.

2025-01-28 09:59:20 +0000 UTCHey guys, I know it’s confusing timeline-wise. But the island is hot and cold because of the admirals fighting. It use to be Vegapunk’s former lab 4 years ago and then the explosion happened cause as we heard the truth from Smoker it was Ceasar but Vegapunk took heat for some of it cause he was in charge of the island. Which made the island inhabitable with poison gas everywhere. So, it was abandoned and then 2 years ago that’s when the admirals dueled there cause it was abandoned. And Ceasar came in afterwards. Meaning these prisoners who were paralyzed were stuck in the third lab while this battle between Aokiji and Akainu was going on. But Ceasar came in afterwards and removed the gas from the island. That’s why when Smoker and G5 were entering the island they all said to put gas masks on cause they assumed it was still toxic to breathe the air. Anyways, hope that clears things up. Timeline is confusing sometimes. But love this arc. It’s a great kick off to the New World. And Ceasar is one of the nastiest villians up there with King Wapol from Chopper’s arc and Spandam from the Enies Lobby arc.

2025-01-28 06:32:57 +0000 UTCI have to say I disagree when it comes to Franky and Sanji initially wanting to leave the kids. Let's look where they come from. Franky is frankly a delinquent. He tore up Water 7, ran a group that was known for causing trouble to the towns people, and has never shown interest in saving anyone not super close to him. Sanji was found by a pirate who raised him around fighting cooks. There's not a lot of room for general empathy there. So to me this is very in character for them. I also don't think Zoro would have wanted to help them. Of course they came around because they wanted to back up Nami and they would have for Luffy too. I think this is just a way of showing us the straw hats don't all think the exact same way

Even for a less popular arc it still holds so much information to be found by inquisitive minds. With using broad and vague details it allows it's interpretation to be uniform as a whole yet personal at the same time. So good! Also Robin telling Franky not to ruin her image of chopper is my favorite.
