One Piece 3 part special EP 658/659/660 HAPPY MONDAY

LOVE YOU ALL H & J 🥰🥰

Comments

Also these 3 episodes hit hard! As Oda goes into great lengths to make it fully clear just how narcissistic manipulative character he is! All these plots he's put into place to show case just how ruthless he is none one is expendable!

PegasusDragon

Dolflamingo has no redeemable or redeeming qualities at all! Full stop that is who he is and will never change that. There's no redeeming him at all ever. I know not many people like Marvel movies not sure if anyone likes the comics or red them? But he has similar qualities tot he Red Skull just full tilt oozes evil from his pores! So I get it Heather I hate him to! Another great character Oda has created that we despise!

PegasusDragon

We hate him for what he is, but i think when ppl say they love him, its how his character is well written. Like whats his name from The Walking dead who offed Glen (spoilers!) Lol

Regie Khemvisay

Oh thank you Heather .now i know that i'm not only one who hates Doflamingo so much. He's manipulative, narcissist, lyer. Don't forget he was the owner of auction house for slaves. He give drugs To kids .. He is a warlod literally and there will be more to come about him. Love you guys .

I couldn't agree more!

That backstory sobered them up real quick.

When I watch content of this nature with Jayton, I always take the time to pause & explain/discuss. It’s actually a habit we’ve had since he was little, we discuss movies/tv & then analyze the meaning or moral. (It’s a side effect of having a mom who studied screenwriting.😂) Knowing how to interpret fiction is a great analytical skill, & it’s something I take the time to teach him. Especially if it’s graphic content. I think it’s important to expose older kids to fiction that teaches them to analyze the real world, recognize comparisons learned from the stories they’ve read or watched. OP is no exception to those types of discussions considering how many teachable moments it has in it.

Dressrosa's history is one of the saddest if not the saddest of OP for me. I sat crying throught these episodes the first time I watched it and that ichy feeling you talked about stayed with me for a long time. You could have watched the 6 episodes in three parts but we know these episodes hit the hardest when they are watched together. I watched these episodes with my kids and explained the events to them in a way they would understand. We don't shy away from showing the ugly of the world to them, they are clever and can draw their own conclusions too. And I said this before, OP helped me explain world events to them that otherwise they wouldn't have understood: Racism, war, slavery, corruption and more. But they also learn about bravery, friendship, found family, dreams, commitment, resilience, honour... Every child should watch OP, as soon as they hit 10 yo imo.

I guess why some fans are drawn to Doflamingo. He embodies what a true villain should be—awful, terrifying, manipulative, cunning, and charismatic (as a bad guy). But what he did is both unforgivable and unforgettable, no matter what happened to him led to this. I truly dislike him, not as a character but as a hateful villain. As Jason said, just when you think you've seen the worst person in One Piece, someone even worse appears. Many people go through horrific things in life, but they still have a choice in how they respond. Some choose resentment and vengeance, lashing out to others and at the world. Others become numb, indifferent, and unkind because they think they've seen worse. But ultimately, it comes down to one’s personal life philosophy. I mean, I understand but I am not impressed by these choices. What touches me deeply is how every member of the Straw Hat crew has endured traumatic pain, yet they’ve chosen empathy over resentment. They extend compassion to others, helping wholeheartedly instead of letting bitterness take root. I genuinely admire that outlook on life— I feel healing in seeing their side of stories. Although Dressrosa isn't in my top five arcs—only because One Piece has so many divine arcs that it's almost impossible to rank even a 10/10 into a top five—it still holds a special place in my heart. The arc is overflowing with rich storytelling: many over-the-top backstories, many epic moments, and many unexpected story developments. While One Piece can sometimes feel a bit stretched out—especially for week-to-week readers who are eagerly waiting for the story to unfold each week, and the way the anime sometimes stretches unnecessary things out really doesn't help at all (but I’m not gonna lie, to be fair, sometimes the anime does a great job elaborating on certain moments.) —it has never disappointed me. Many plot twists always catch me off guard in the best ways. As I’ve often said, the world of One Piece is incredibly dark, sometimes even mirroring real-world horrors we can't even imagine. But it’s the hope and humor woven throughout the series that makes the OP world feel bearable, even uplifting. I’ve been reading One Piece for over two decades, and I still find myself re-reading and re-watching it often. And I’ve found a new, lovable way to enjoy it—by watching with beloved live reactors like you. Even after countless re-watches, I continue to discover new insights and details that reshape my understanding of the story. As the story progresses and new recontextualization keeps adding layers to it, I find myself reflecting on earlier moments in a whole new light. It’s truly a lifelong journey—and I consider One Piece a gem, a priceless treasure in my life.

Guys, there's so many funny memes about Crocodile and Luffy! Lol I'll share the ones with no spoilers on Discord 😜 and Barto knows Luffy's face, sorry Heather! Lol He was inspired by him when he saw him almost getting killed by Buggy in Loguetown, when that lightning saved him.

Lucia Petrozzi

Lol, I'm a bit further down my learning journey, don't worry Heather! ❤️ That Japanese sentence meant "Japanese is cool and interesting" 🇯🇵

Today’s reaction is so fun! Thank you as always, guys :). When I first read/watched this arc, every depth of the story went over my head- I was too young, haha. It finally clicked in my head when I was working on an advocacy project during my bachelor year cause I found too much similarity in what I worked on with Oda’s stories. The atrocities in OP were often told in bits and pieces between comedic moments, but when you put the whole image, it's wild what Oda was/is trying to show us (the younglings at that time). Weapon smuggling, country takeover, dehumanisation, incitement, human rights violations—the list is endless with Doffy, lol. But I think a show like this is what shaped my moral standards today. While I didn't understand much when I was young, when I see similar bad cases happening irl, my mind draw me back to the story in my childhood to shaped what i think is right and wrong. It's weird, I know, but it works so far as I’m not in jail or siding with a tyrant. Anyway, there is one scene in this arc that is very dear to my heart. I can't wait for us to reach it this week!

The right age to watch One Piece is such an interesting question, I think it depends on the maturity of the child but it is a hard age to measure. As for me liking Doflamingo, I will explain later as I fear saying anything could be dangerous. I think everyone will explain why they like Doflamingo when the time is right.

Fold

Now you know how eeeeevil Doflamingo is, he didn't just trick King Riku, he ruined the lives of a whole country and made the dissidents live a personal hell. Think about Crocodile again, but he actually accomplishing his plan, think about the real world and how evil people sway a population to think their way and do their bid... Critical thinking is soo important in these times, and I think that's what Dressrosa's backstory is partially about.

Potzi

“I’ll have what she’s having” if it means I could have the giggles too. You guys are hilarious!🤣 “Wasting away again in Margaritaville!”

I absolutely love One Piece. It's definitely in my top 5 of the roughly 300 anime I've watched so far, and Solo Leveling is in my top 20. I'm glad you're reacting to these series. But if I had one wish, I'd add Frieren to your list, and everything would be perfect. :)

Can’t wait to read this one!👍👍❤️

Nesz Vids (Eric Perez)

It scares me how there are people who genuinely love doflamingo as a person and thinks he’s done no wrong because I’ve seen lots of fans think that way. They saw the way he treated some of his crew in punk hazard and developed a soft spot for him. Like of course he’s gonna treat the people who do his dirty work with a little bit of care and sympathy. But I wouldn’t say its real care more like saying goodbye to a solder who was faithful to you until the end.
