Askeladd and his men are Danes/Vikings mercenaries and they once crossed Wales (in England) while fleeing Thorkell. That's when we come to know that Askeladd's mother was Welsh, and a descendant of Artorius, that was abducted by his Danish father and treated as a concubine/slave. At the time, Askeladd was helped by a Welsh commander to cross Wales unscathed, under the promise that he would not allow the Danes to conquer Wales.
