It is crazy you guys got to this episode around the time all the flooding happened. My Aunt lives in the Hill Country and had to stay with my parents here in east Texas for like a week because all of the lakes and rivers flooded over the roads and she couldn't get home

I really liked Superman! out of all the new movies I seen for this year I have it ranked 4th behind Sinners, Ballerina and F1, some of the people on the podcast I'm on didn't like it that much because they said Superman was getting beat up most of the movie. When the Demon Slayer movie comes out they usually have separate showings for English Dub and Japanese with subtitles so you should be able to watch it in Japanese in theaters.

This arc just really just goes straight in especially with the suspense, also the animation will change at certain parts you can notice the difference when it happens.

I decided to delete my comments because they were kind of negative in a way. And even if that is how I feel about the show I don’t need to bring this up now when they’re watching it and trying to enjoy it. This can be a discussion for when we finish one piece down the line. I will still bring up my gripes about certain things though that will never change lol.

I don’t think it’s fair to say that only One Piece fans bash other shonen series, it definitely goes both ways. I’ve seen plenty of Naruto and Bleach fans criticize One Piece and its fanbase too. Honestly, this kind of rivalry between fans of different shonen anime is pretty common and kind of expected, especially online. A bit of competition isn’t a bad thing, but it often turns into unnecessary arguments. A lot of it comes from younger fans, especially teenagers, who love to debate which anime in the Big 3 is the best. What starts as a simple opinion quickly turns into attacks and insults, and things get out of hand. As for the stakes with Sanji, I can’t really agree with your point there. Without spoiling anything, I understood the reactions in that scene. Luffy was just being Luffy, and knowing what I know now from the following episodes, I wouldn’t expect him to react any differently. At first, it might seem confusing, like they suddenly name-drop Sanji in a serious tone and then jump back to partying like nothing happened, but that confusion is part of the experience as a viewer. Things only start to make sense as the story progresses. Since I have the full context, Luffy’s reaction made perfect sense to me. Regarding predictability, I think that comes with the territory when it comes to shonen anime. No matter what’s happening, you generally have a good idea of how things will turn out in the end. That’s just how the shonen formula works. Shonen manga isn’t really meant to focus on constant unpredictability or super high-stakes storytelling. If you’re looking for that, anime like Vinland Saga or Frieren handle those aspects much better, but that’s because they’re designed to follow a different narrative style. With shows like One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, or Dragon Ball, while I might not know exactly what’s going to happen moment to moment, I usually have a general idea of where the story is headed. And that’s not a flaw, it’s just part of the way shonen stories are meant to be written.

So, from here on out really, the animation gets wayyyy better. Fishman island - Dressrosa was pretty rough for the series animation wise... But from here literally until current episode, The overall art style, AND animation quality-- will begin to change gradually, sometimes even dramatically, Until it reaches truly insane levels, consistently The reason why is because during this era of the series, there were other MASSIVE ongoing series that definitely took some of the spotlight away from One Piece (even though it was still internationally #1) So, as those series ended, and one piece continued to get better and better-- along with the general trend of animes getting WAY HIGHER production value on average in the 2010's, One piece eventually followed that trend until it became what it is today-- which is, one of the PINACCLES of animation (during important episodes, since the series is weekly, different amounts of budget and work are allocated to episodes of different importance!)

I actually haven't been to the theaters since 2019. The specific theater in my town, which sold tickets for 7$, closed down, so Its kind of a drive to get to any other Theater nearby.

I love Zou—it’s one of my favorite arcs! It’s short but really impactful. The anime drags a bit, but it’s still great. I’m pretty sure you’ll like it too, haha. Oh, and Jason’s pronunciation is spot on—it sounds like 'so' but with a 'z'!
