Clearly you need to make time for some Street Fighter action! :D

Bethrezan

Thanks Yeet! appreciate that! :))

Jason DeVan

I feel the same way about the live action. I wish it was more like the anime and the garp reveal was later but it did chose the path of drawing in new fans so it's all good. Regarding the discord, take your time to dive into it. I don't want yall to tire out 👍

Yeetyeetyeet

😂😂 exactly! It’s been a while but yes!😉😉

Jason DeVan

Thanks Lucia! We are so thankful to be on this journey and to have amazing nakama such as yourself to share it with!🥹🥹❤️❤️🙌🏼🙌🏼

Love you guys so much! I rewatch your guys reaction a lot and it makes my day, really happy that you guys love the series as much as we do

Jon LaBoogie

I loved your chat at the end! Watching you going through the same realisations we experienced while watching the anime or reading the manga for the first time, really takes me back! We are grateful to the LA for bringing new fans to the OP family!

Lucia Petrozzi

Jason, did you mean Hadouken? :P Shouryuken is the uppercut ;)

Bethrezan

Agreed!😊😊💯💯

Jason DeVan

We actually just read and discussed a little of what you said Davide! Live on episodes 152-153!😊😊✌️✌️🫶🫶

Jason DeVan

No way! You’re a newbie too!! Love that! Welcome NAKAMA! ❌❌❤️❤️❤️✊✊

The final discussion was lovely guys. For me, and you will see way more in the future, Oda put in OP so many societal and political references and "how a good society should be" that sometimes just shock me, not to mention how he can go deep into some topics considering that OP is a Shonen ( a manga that is supposed to have early teenagers how the majority of the public). One of them was shown in Chopper flashback. the way health is shown by Hililuk and Kureha's point of view, how there seems to be a dichotomy at the start, and how complementary really are ( the cherry blossom that cured Hililuk's heart is a sweet metaphor for mental health and Kureha was more worried about physical health, not considering the "cure for the nation" poisoned by bad king/politics. )that blows my mind. if I rightly remember (too lazy for fact-checking sorry) Drum Island was written in 1998, and the final definition of health by WHO is " Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." was accepted by the commission in 1999.

Davide Garofalo

oda used a lot of historical material in his manga, he must have read a lot of books. really smart guy.

Leandrorr

I had a similar experience as you guys. I watched the live action with zero knowledge about One Piece. Almost caught up with the anime now. There are so many great moments coming!

Luke

So true Cheddah! thanks for the insight! We love it when you guys guide us through, its so helpful and just makes us love the show even more! :))

Jason DeVan

EXACLTY!! Your comment just gave me ( Heather ) chills! How amazing is this community and it just keeps getting better!

Jason DeVan

The insight about filmmaking and scriptwriting from you guys are *chefskiss. I also do creative writing and its definitely hard to piece things together that makes sense and GOda is definitely a genius with all these small details or stuff that u wouldnt think twice about and it comes back later. im actually so thankful for The LA because so many reactions and the community grew bcoz of the show. Even with just Mackenyu, he brought in so many ppl already. The LA was definitely a smart choice. Also, I think OPLA is the first Live action that the American production did and which Netflix put millions of dollar to make. And of course with showrunners being fans and ODA involved, OPLA became very special. If it wasnt fot OPLA, i and probly lots of us probably never have met. In conclusion, lol, OP rules!

Regie Khemvisay

So the differences with Zoro in the Anime and the Live Action. In the Live action they display Zoro good at using 2 two swords, and 1 sword, and then he takes out the 3 swords and puts on the Bandana, for a special attack. This is necessary for the live action because using 3 swords isn't a realistic way to fight. However it does change Zoro's character in a way, it makes him seem even stronger in the live action, because in the Anime Zoro is only good at 3 sword style, and not as good with 2 swords or even one sword. We see him slowly grow and learn, and in this fight he uses a 1 sword style technique to defeat Mr.1.

Thank you Jechtsphere,🤗🤗 It is a thing of beauty the way Oda! Plants seeds that grow and come back around later!🤯🤯 he is the absolute best! We can’t wait for season 2, and we are very curious how they will pull off many things!☺️☺️🤞🤞🫶🫶

Jason DeVan

I love how Oda can also mention things and you don't even realize it comes back later on and you think omg I forgot about that or didn't think it was important! Can't wait for Season 2 as well. I'm sure after S1 success the budget will be bigger. It has to. No way they can tell story of laboon to alabasta in 8 episodes. For love of God they have to get Chopper right. Love the ending discussion. Not too short nor too long. I'm always a few episodes behind due to work. Appreciate your work! Hopefully one of your kids who left is still close enough you get to see them often.

Jechtsphere

I think they may want more conflicts between Coby Garp and Luffy so that they can add a new separate storyline from start to end for season 1. I wouldn't say its a bad idea but just upset about the personality changes. To me, OPLA Garp and Coby are not as likeable as amine Garp and Coby

Jason DeVan

What an incredible story, thank you for sharing and thank you for letting us be part of your memory and share this with you. It most definitely was one of the best episodes yet! ❤️❤️ PS does your mom know about this story?

Jason DeVan

Yay glad you enjoyed the discussion cause we binged a few and had soooo much to discuss lol! 😉😉🥰🥰

Jason DeVan

I love that!! We are hooked! It’s just the perfect show for us right now and the NAKAMA we are meeting along the way, we absolutely believe in FATE! 🥰🥰❤️❤️ 😉😉

Jason DeVan

That’s a great idea! We will have to figure it out for sure because we both have so much to say and also love hearing what you guys have to say and even answering our questions for us along the way! ❤️❤️🥰🥰

Jason DeVan

Nice! We already switched and it’s so much better knowing what it says lol! 🫶🫶

Jason DeVan

NICE!! That’s is exactly our thoughts! love this discussion part of it too, its fun to see other people’s perspectives! ❤️❤️

Jason DeVan

Ahh thanks romaiiiii that means a lot! 🫶🫶

Jason DeVan

We recorded a bunch today and OMG ❤️❤️🥰🥰

Jason DeVan

That’s exactly what we think 🥰🥰

Jason DeVan

That’s interesting 🤨 curious why they would do that!

Jason DeVan

The episode 119 it will always be one of my favourites, first of all Zoro is my favourite character and thisis his first big fight but also i remember that in Catalonia, in Spain it came in catalan the summer of 2008, i was 13 and that day i had a big fight with my sister and my mom grounded me without watching the episode, so my strategy was recording the episode with my mp3 and that night i listened the episode in bed and i imagined the whole episode on my head. 3 years later i watched the episode for the first time and i was crying like a baby. I have the recording saved to this day, and i still remember all the lines. It's been awsome to watch you enjoy this episode as much as i did when i was a kid and also share this memory with you!!!

LordCartanya

Mihawk is considered as the strongest among all seven warlords. And the mega-sword "yoru" carried on his back is one of best swords in the world.

KingRoger

Mr 1 ate the Dice Dice fruit. Its weirdly specific (as many devil fruits can be) as it allows him to turn any part of his body into a blade (made of steel)

Jake Belcastro

this version is better imo becuz it says zoro puts his will into his sword

Kenji

the discussion at the end was really great! i didnt know you guys had so many thoughts about one piece that went through your mind thanks for sharing! also have you seem zoros scars on his legs? those scars are from little garden showing that he really cut deep, also its funny how u guya say mihawk would easily defeat mr.1 even though you cant even imagine/measure how strong the strongest really are until halfway through one piece and yet you are still so correct 🤣 mihawk indeed would easily defeat mr.1

Kenji

Binge-watching sounds fun! 😆💕 We just did that w/ your reactions from the past few days! 😂 (Well, we lost power from the snowstorm over the weekend… but once it came back, we plopped down after shoveling snow & started catching up.) Although—at least for people like me with a bad memory—binge-watching can be a double-edged sword cuz you forget lots of details when you consume too much content too fast. Since we only started OP in 2020, we binged several of the arcs… & my memory of certain events & details have become fuzzy or jumbled out of order. 😅 How you watch it all depends on yourselves. But re-watching with you has been a great way to refresh my memory! ☺️🫶

storitella

Have you guys floated the idea of like discussion videos after each arc or saga? I would love just hearing about your thoughts, theories, favorite moments, arcs, characters etc. It would be perfect after finishing the first real Saga.

LoneCourier21

Yep :) You definitely need to switch to Crunchyroll, for now the texts of the one who won are not so important, but after Alabasta there will be episodes where the translation of the inscriptions from above will be extremely important, without them there will be no understanding of what is happening. I'm talking specifically about episode 151, one of the first really important episodes. I don't understand how Netflix missed this thing, but whatever :) Thanks for the video

garri_d

I totally buy Jason's opinion. I leave many comments in other's youtubers' videos in the first place that I totally disagree with getting the big name into the show. One Piece is attractive from its own charm. Also, OPLA is now known all over the world. No need to bring Jamie or any other big shot to raise the attention. Like Jason said, I don't want to break OP's bank. Their CGI or other stuff is already expensive but never expensive enough to make things look real and authentic. I hope they will continue doing a great job in season 2. I love One Piece so much that I never want One Piece to screw up in anything.

theshittycook

I really enjoyed the discussion and some of the insight brought in from different perspectives, such as a writer's and film makers perspective. It gives me things to think about with how the finished product is brought to the audience.

romaiiiii

Such a good fight with Zoro seriously improving his cutting power and senses. This arc is so great and yet this is still like a B-tier arc for me out of the 31 arcs so far. This marks the 11th arc in the journey. The first A-tier arc for me is after this one then 2 more behind it. I can't wait for this weeks stuf it's gonna be such a great finale!

LoneCourier21

One piece live action season 2 needs to be 20 + eps if they are going to include alabaster arc

Joe

Tbh, i dont care when they reveal Garp is Luffy's grandfather. I am upset that the live action totally changed the personality of Garp. You will see when you see Garp in the future

Ming GAO

Ahhh good to know, so we weren’t to far off! ;))

Jason DeVan

We have heard so many crazy stories about his work schedule, so incredible and super fascinating! We get why fans call him Goda, no doubt! ❤️❤️🥰🥰

Jason DeVan

Oda's work schedule is nuts, from what's been told in interviews and such, he lives apart from his wife and 2 daughters, visits with them once a week, on holidays, and goes on vacations once a year. Typically only sleeps like 3 hours per day on the work days. I think he only takes 1 day off each week to see family. (Hopefully this has changed, he's 49 now) Which isn't that abnormal to a lot of more old school Mangaka who also have similar schedules. Newer artists usually do more digital work, so they complete their tasks way quicker.

Tina

Interesting point of view!🤔🤔👍👍🫶🫶

Jason DeVan

Also if I remember correctly, Oda was 22 when he started 'One Piece' so he might be 24-26 at the oldest at this point

Kit

Awww thank you Kit!!! 🥰🥰❤️❤️

Jason DeVan

Looking forward to hearing more discussions between the two of you. And the very best to your little bird on their life journey/ dream.

Kit

The first version I watch translated Rhythm as breath.

Fold

I like to think of Zoro as the talentless person who refuses to let his talent dictate his life. And Sanji as the distracted genius who focuses on cooking instead of fighting and puts handicaps on himself.
