ONE PIECE eps. 156/157 | God is kinda scary! |

We are LOVING this ARC so much! Even better than we expected! But isn't that GODA?

ONE PIECE eps. 156/157 | God is kinda scary! |

you're probably way past this and might forget the context. But One Piece is not set in a specific time period. It does have it's own timeline. The islands being in different time era's is a different thing based on the islands' location and how isolated it is, so some islands can be more advanced and some can be prehistoric but they're all existing in the same unique one piece timeline.

People skip skypea because they are told that it is not relevant to the larger plot. This is not true at all! It is extremely relevant. It is likely that it is still going to be relevant to the story still also. meaning relevant to parts of the story that we caught up people have not seen yet.

Gjermund Norum Bugge

I can't believe anyone would actually skip Skypiea. It doesn't drive the main One Piece story as much as the other arcs, but there's so many important elements that develop the characters. And it's also just a funny arc in general.

Changsta

Skypiea IS a very important arc. Hmmm, how to say this with minimal teasing? I think the people who skip this arc only look at the action and ignore the worldbuilding taking place. Then they compare this arc to an upcoming, action-packed one and come to the wrong conclusion that Skypiea should be skipped.

Lulluf

skypea is incredible. I never understand why something that is actually in the manga, should be considered "filler" just for the initial slow pace. like duh! it's absolutely normal setting up for the future climax.

Davide Garofalo

In that particular video we forgot to block background noise! But we are also getting better mics as well!☺️☺️

Jason DeVan

i was confused hearing some background noise, I believe you guys need a mic with noise canceling.

Leandrorr

👍👍😊😊

Jason DeVan

We actually answer you in eps. 172/173! :))

Jason DeVan

I don't think anyone should skip any arc that is cannon, if Oda puts something in there it's always for a reason and maybe you understand it 600 or 800 chapters after it. That's why is GODA, like the reunion of the Warlords that you saw before going in Skypiea, bit by bit he starts to unfold what this world is like so i would say that every bit that is canon is important. There are even some things in the East Blue that you don't feel like they are important but 500-600 chapters later you know why he put that there, that's how well written and thought this show is.

LordCartanya

I watched and loved this arc there is one section that felt a little dragged out to me but overall this arc is fantastic. I'm only at episode 580 on my personal watch through and I can already see how this might be the most important arc in one piece for lore

Razrbck08

Exactly our thoughts!!! Plus we don’t hear mush about future arcs because we don’t want to know any details!!! ❤️❤️🥰🥰🤗🤗

Jason DeVan

We would have serious FOMO and could never skip information like this from Oda!!! Glad he went back and rewatched it!! 😂😂😜😜❤️❤️

Jason DeVan

The only reason people skip arcs is because they are so tantalized by future events they hear about, that they look for any justification to skip an arc, even if that arc is really good! Oda is too good of a writer, no arc is truly a poor story, its just that some may have a section of two with slower pacing that arent as entertaining but, its never enough to make anything worth skipping. There are great moments throughout the arc.

Jake Belcastro

My friend skipped the next four arcs, He watched the first two episodes of each, said he was board and it just didn't bring him in like Alabasta did. He's the type of guy to not like explanations of Lore, and wants to see cool fights. I told him to go back and watch all of them because he missed out on some crucial stuff. Once he caught up, then he went backed and watched them lol. Personally I have this arc over Alabasta and everything before it, so I don't know why anyone would skip it.

Cheddah Slammer

Ohhhh! That makes sense! We eventually figured out it meant anger, but veins is a great analogy. Thanks Heather! ❤️❤️

Jason DeVan

👍👍💯💯😊😊

Jason DeVan

The little insignia on the head kinda like this 💢 when they get mad is a popped vein. In anime/manga, a concave square or triangle shape without the lines connected is used similar to sound fx like “pow” or “ka-boom” or steam puffing off the head. It’s not always located near the head. And sometimes it’s not associated with anger, for example fear or love causing the heart to beat so hard it pops a vein. But anger is the most common use. 😂

storitella

are you talking about geo on twitter?

Kenji

So as everyone has said Skypeia lore wise incredibly important and relevant to many other areas of the world not just the sky. Some things became relevant this past year especially, with the arc that just finished. It is exactly as Heather said. Trust the process and the payoffs are worth it.

LoneCourier21

Makes sense…. but the story is some of the best story ever told! We don’t want to miss anything! ❤️❤️

Jason DeVan

K that was funny!!! Let’s all eat some RR ice cream 🍨 ❤️❤️🤣🤣

Jason DeVan

Honestly SE that’s kinda what we were thinking… especially in the grand scheme of things! Plus it’s such a good arc 😍😍

Jason DeVan

Right? And some of those just came out last year, bonkers

Regie Khemvisay

So I read that people skipped it coz they got bored, and that it doesnt move the plot along, and that the pacing was really slow. On the contrary, this arc is very important as it introduces lots of lore and things that will come back in the future arcs. I dont see why it should be skipped. As for the pacing, the anime kind of have a slow pace coz i believe it was catching up on the manga so the studio slowed it down. Thats just what I heard before tho. But honestly if some skipped it, its their loss because some info in Skypiea became relevant just last year and those who skipped it missed some major stuff. Anyways, you guys made me crave some rockyroad ice cream aahha

Regie Khemvisay

I think people skip this arc because there's a lot of goofing around. It is quite long and imo does go a bit slow at times, but the pay off is one of the best in the series by the end. There are some incredible story moments and scenes to come. Also it's not a lot of people that skip this arc. I would say barely any people skip it in the grand scheme of things. It's the kind of thing where someone screenshots a comment of someone saying to skip it and posts it on Twitter, and then lots of people start talking about it, but mostly people are making fun of the person who said it, and because of all the talk it seems like it's some popular opinion or something when it's not As others have mentioned, because it takes place in the Sky, there's no Marine presence, so whatever happens up here doesn't really make a difference with the characters that are down below, however... The more the series goes on, the more this arc becomes important. There's a lot of setup here that you won't even realize is setup until much later, which to me is really damn cool

SomeoneElse

Heather was right. Oda has a LOT OF messages when writing this arc. I speculate that some fans did not like this arc because of the pacing in fights. Many fans do not have much patience when comes to the fight or power scaling stuff. Many of them watch anime for fights. They may not care much about story or lore, while some who care about story-wise might think this was not related to the OP world-wise story. Little did they know. Not want to spoil anything, just want to tell that this arc did give lots of messages, and different levels of retrospect in many philosophical areas (don't want to further elaborate until you finish this arc).

theshittycook

We literally just said to BashaM that is sux for those that skipped it. LOL!!!

Jason DeVan

Sux for those that skipped it! :))

Jason DeVan

I think people feel like they can skip the arc is because it doesn’t move the overall One Piece plot forward by that much. However, the more you get into the story the more Skypiea becomes relevant and important to the overall plot. People will regret skipping it!

Casey

I don’t know why some people skip this arc. It’s actually nice and adventurous, which is ideal as it’s in between two ‘heavy’ arcs like Alabasta and the next one, which will be very long (but beautiful) and a rollercoaster of emotions. Besides (without spoiling anything) many elements or facts seen or mentioned in this arc will be recalled/explained in like 1000 episodes. Here we will find some pieces of the puzzle that is One Piece, which may mean nothing right now, but are needed to understand future events.

BashaM

We are loving it!! 😍 😍

Jason DeVan

We do not plan on skipping anything but the filler that is on red! ✊✊❌❌

Jason DeVan

Most definitely ❤️❤️

Jason DeVan

Good to know! 😉😉

Jason DeVan

Yeah I recommend watching all Arcs…I never understood why anyone would want less one piece…i love it all!

Bryan

It was actually Skypea where I took a 1 month break with One Piece. It's just cause there are a few episodes coming up that are very slow paced. I think that was just for the anime. I haven't heard such issues with the Skypea arc in the manga. It just a couple of episodes btw.

Rishabh Gupta

it will have some slightly duller moments but its definitely not something that should be skipped.

RydaAnime

lot of op fans hate this and the next short arc, it feels like filler and takes really long aswell but i hope you enjoy it!
