One Piece ep 249/250 | Tom is a beautiful soul! Is Franky the newest crew please? (don't answer that) :))

How Goda turns your feelings, about a character from hate to love, so quickly, is just another testament of his writing!!!

I love how Oda connects everything. We first heard about the Ancient weapon Pluton in Alabasta when Crocodile was looking for it, but we didn’t know it was a ship. Now we know it’s a ship cause of the blueprints passed down from 800 years ago, but we still don’t know where the original weapon Pluton is… I guess the poneglyphs tell since Robin lied to Crocodile about the Alabasta poneglyph. Cause Vivi’s dad (King Cobra) even knew that the Poneglyph in Alabasta talked about where the Pluton is and knew Robin lied to Crocodile. So, Robin knows where the original is cause she can read the poneglyphs. So, explains why they want her and Franky having the blueprints was a backup plan so the Government could build another one in case the original was destroyed or they couldn’t get to it. It’s almost like the Ancients from the Void Century 800 years ago are trying to preserve information that the World Government has trying to hide from everyone. Explains why the Calgara and the Shandorans (400 years ago) told Cricket that they were protecting their Poneglyph for 400 years which lines up in the main story from 800 years ago also during the Void Century that Robin is trying to uncover…. Makes you wonder that Oda has something big in store for this Void Century to the overall plot and maybe it’s related to the One Piece?

Pluton is "a ship" rather than "the ship". The way Heather said "Pluton was the ship" made me interpret that as "Pluton was the ship drawn in the blueprints CP9 first got from Paulie". That blueprint was just a fake. Maybe I misinterpreted what Heather said. I love you guys :)

Jessica

Code Geass pls! Kenji hasnt watched it also, please sample an episode out :)

Regie Khemvisay

That spandam punch from Tom is so satisfying to watch

Not every title is spoilery but the reason you want to get in the habit now is because later on they will spoil the episode/plot points in the title. It's kinda crazy.

Jechtsphere

I used to live in Northern California and went to the Winchester Mansion. Such a wild place. Very cool to walk through. It's been a long time so I'm sure they have added more by now.

Jechtsphere

Tom a Father who protected the legacy of his Son.

I think it keeps the intros the same to a certain extent in flash backs, so the viewer doesn't forget where they are in the current moment. That way by the time we return from the flash back we haven't forgot what ever happened before the flash back started.

no actually usopp is a hated character sadly but i love him, i mean in a world like this i would be usopp😂😂😂

Monkey D Luffy is part of the D Clan 😜

😭😭👍👍

An interesting fact, when we meet Yokozuna (the frog) at the beginning of Water 7, he is trying to stop the train with his body in the same way as Franky, which he repeats every day. With the flashback it makes more sense why he does it.

😆😆 I got you!!!

Franky really does a turnaround in his character development!!💕 (Love that Heather noticed early that there was something deeper going on with Franky.) Foes to allies… it’s a common trope, especially in anime. The biggest influence for this in Eastern fiction is Journey To The West, the story of the Monkey King who travels with a Buddhist monk & gathers a band of travelers on their journey that begin as foes turned into allies. Oda-sensei just has a knack for crafting a deep emotional attachment to these kinds of characters that has more resonance with the audience. That’s why people love characters like Robin, Franky, Bon Clay, & etc so much!🥰 Journey To The West has other influences on OP… such as the name: MONKEY D. Luffy.😉 Going on a long adventure gathering a small crew of allies. Like the Monkey King & monk, their path is mostly straightforward (end of the Grand Line) except the exact location of the final destination. Even Devil Fruits are partially referencing the peaches of immortality (eaten by the Monkey King) that grant abilities like eternal youth, immortality, incredible strength, and flight.

Always loved what Tom said about being proud of what you create; about the fact that even evil creations need to be loved by at least their creator. It reminds me of how parents must feel, even when their child goes down the wrong path. Whoever goes to Enies Lobby as a criminal never survives.

BashaM

to be fair you arent really wrong jason. but i cant tell you why.

😫😫 I’m wrong again!?!? Noooo😂

Good Lesson from Tom-san here. You should be proud of your creations. Also how do you feel about being introduced to you new favorite character Spandam?

ic1025

You dont need to read this one on camera. Just to clear up 1 more bit of confusion. Tom did not build Pluton. It was built over 800 years ago by a different shipwright. The blueprints for Pluton have been handed down to a new shipwright ever since.

ic1025

Haha Jason. Love your passion, but you are wrong for now. The Ship is Pluton, but no it isn't Enels ship. Love the journey guys! It's only getting heavier and heavier as we go on!

There are many great things about Oda's work, but this is def not unique to him. There are literally thousands of books out there with great character arcs ranging from rags to riches to villains to heros etc...some much more complex/mature than one piece. FWIW: One of my fav examples of this was Boromir in LOTR.

Bethrezan

This is the greatest thing about Oda's writing, characters might be shown as evil or mean or disrespectful at first, the you see their backstory, then you learn their connections to people, you see their values and learn their dreams, and then they are humanized, they become people and you love them. I think people sometimes hate Usopp because he forces us to see the weakness and frustration in ourselves, his story is great, and he's in my top 10 for sure. Enjoy it nakamas!

Potzi

from hating franky to loving him oda greatness fr fr peak writing

Kenji

also oda loves making you hate the villains he makes sure they look ugly act obnoxious and are very clumsy to say these people are nothing without their status.

Kenji

i gotchu jason u aint readin the title but heather still gotta... yare yare what should i say 😮‍💨

Kenji

oda always explains the big story by downscaling with an example. its about the secret weapon pluton! most people simply dont understand that weapons existing will always lead to war! thats the conflict betweek iceberg and robin. oda downscales and gives you a perfect example by having franky building small ships with canons built in, iceberg keeps telling him they are too dangerous and that he shouldnt build those and now his own creation killed the man he admired most! these weapons created by him for fun and passion only hurt those he cared the most but for the world weapons are made for destruction.

Kenji

everyone that goes to enies lobby never returns they say so tom is dead.

Kenji

The intro and outro music went hard this episode.

Juice DaNinja

i just realized i like to watch reactions only of couples... maybe i want to marry lol

Leandrorr

Franky was "died" because of how good the sea train was built too

Ming GAO

Its always hurting me so much that the thing brought Tom to Ennis Lobby is by his own created sea train.......

Ming GAO

Lucci said that Pluton was a “Battleship” a few episodes ago. The blueprints they are trying to get, detail how to build this battleship. As the original Pluton was built on Water 7 which is home to the greatest shipwrights in the world. It makes sense that it’s a ship 😊.
