Another unexpected break in the journey I thought they were gonna have, it seems that with Aang being the pilot, it's gonna happen a lot. But with this one, he learnt that being the Avatar can bring advantages but also have bad consequences for the people around him, that he can put in danger. I'm afraid that one day he would learn that in a worst way.
Glad that I was right about Sokka, he has a lot to learn to become a good warrior but I'm sure that with time and meeting warriors along the way, he would become the best. About Aang and Katara's relationship, I can see that he might have feelings for her but she's really considering him as a kid that she has to protect and mentor. At least, that's my opinion for now.
