Choose the winner of our "Design a Miniature" Competition!

Hello Everyone,

We've been extremely busy over the past few months learning how to best use Patreon, and our Digital Forge project is off to a strong start! 

If you've come from our Facebook page, joining the Digital Forge for just $9 USD per month gets you a pack of high-quality STL files every month with a personal licence for home 3D printing!  

August is a mixed month, and will include the winning character model from our Competition below! 

Design a Miniature Competition

Back in May, just before the launch of the Digital Forge, we asked people to submit a design for an original miniature! We had a large number of high-quality entries and the overall quality was excellent, making it very difficult to select concepts to shortlist! 

It's taken a little while longer than we planned to get to this stage in the competition and we apologise for the delay!

We are really grateful for the obvious time and effort people put in, and we hope to showcase some of the designs which did not make the shortlist in a future blog post.

Jonathon: Daughters of the Burning Rose Honour Guard

Jonathan submitted a new concept for a character model for our Daughters of the Burning Rose range. A veteran honour guard who has been severely wounded in numerous battles and perhaps now lends expertise and leadership rather than participating directly in the fighting. 

 Older female veteran with a pipe leading out of her nose into the armour.

• Armoured chest piece with Burning Rose insignia. Bevor/ neck brace shaped like flower petals surrounding the neck. 
• Landsknecht style slashed clothes for trousers alongside smaller similar design on upper arm sleeves that overlap into a simple fabric shirt.
• Left hand is missing with sleeve rolled up and attached just under the shoulder pad.
• Double Bionic leg replacement above the knees

Terry:   “Gapsa” Of the Red Bannered Marines 

The elite Gapsa Regiment stand far above the regulars and militias of Taehan’s Garrisons. During the War of the Noryang Sector, the Gapsa Regiment was deployed alongside the Expeditionary Red Bannered Marines, acting as a defensive QRF in response to the Veteran Privateer Federation’s many devastating landfall raids. 

It's future unclear in wake of Admiral Li Shin’s untimely demise, the Gapsa Regiment continues to fend Taehan’s borders, even as it is stretched thin by protracted conflict and meddling noble courtiers.

• The Gapsa is a neo-feudalistic design inspired by various historical Chinese and Korean armours over the ages. Heavy Lamellar Armor covers the torso and shoulders, donned on top of flowing ceremonial robes that go to the knees. On top of the body armour is a wide sash and surcoat that covers the waist and shoulders.
• Extensively augmented, the Gapsa proudly displays prosthetics for both arms and legs, and thermal-sight enabled eyes.  These augments are uniform, hinting that a large percentage of it was elective prior to service. 
• The Gapsa carries equipment standard issue to their unit: A futuristic long rifle as a primary weapon, its large calibre munitions propelled not by internal gunpowder, but by a separate energy cell that is inserted underneath the stock.  The Gapsa also possesses a ceremonial, but still functional, short sword.

Robert: Varrus Teal, Former Preator of the Helix Legion

The Helix Legion is famous throughout the Core Systems for its martial prowess, tenacity in the attack, stubbornness in defence and unquestionable loyalty… if the price is right. Gene-bred for size, strength and resilience, the scions of Talas Prime are instructed from an early age in all forms of martial combat. 

Varrus Teal was formally Preator of a full assault Cadre, and an inspired tactician and masterful strategist. A bloody meatgrinder in which most of his unit was killed caused Varrus to resign his commission and leave the Legion. He now leads the “Valkyries”, mercenaries dedicated to providing support and extraction in the most hopeless situations.

  Aristocratic features split with a large scar and replacement bionic eye.

• Viking hairstyle, tall build.
• BiowareTattoos running from the back of the neck and up both sides of the head to the temples
• Fatigues and combat boots. Heavy Legion torso and shoulder plate armour, – battered and personalized since leaving the legion – some form of webbing or ammo storage on armour.
• Short sword in inverted scabbard down the spine, and large calibre pistol in chest/thigh rig.
• Chunky and brutal looking solid ammo combat rifle with an underslung grenade launcher.
