Executioners weren't exactly held under high regard, as far as the shogun is concerned. They were lethal with a blade, and this generally made them a threat to the shogun. They stated they already sent a few expeditions out and the only one to return alive was sergeant (this tells me it was military personnel) and executioners aren't nearly as important as the military. Sure, they could send twice the amount of Yamada, but in the case it is another failure, now you only lose 10 criminals and 10 Yamada and not just 20 Yamada, so you could get 2 expeditions for what would've just been a waste of a single expedition of 20. Perhaps also the shogun considers conventional warfare to be at fault for their past failures, in which these prisoners with exceptional powers could be their ace.

2023-04-11 17:23:12 +0000 UTCI think that executioners' major job is to prevent criminals from stealing elixir. From Shogun's point of view, criminals are expendable, while executioners are less expendable (so they just monitor criminals instead of find elixir by themselves).

2023-04-10 22:48:53 +0000 UTCI really liked this ep! Gabimaru and Sagiri relationship is gonna interesting to see from moving forward. I give this episode 8.5 and the first ep was 8/10 for me but THIS episode was made we look forward to every ep now.
