Monday Covid Drawings

Thank you all for the wonderful support and encouragement to REST. I needed it, and I did rest. After getting over the fever-y part of the sickness, the rest hasn't been too bad. Brain fog is still with me and I'm stuffy and coughing, so I'm nowhere near 100% and I'll be taking it easy this week too as I continue to recover.

I've been playing videogames (Inside, Inscryption, Super Smash Brothers) and watching movies (South Pacific, Elvis, Ouran High School Host Club, PBS nature docuementaries). It's a little fucked up to admit, but this has been a vacation, because for me vacation is permission to do nothing and zero expectations. 

When I'm in that mode I get new ideas and I just kinda absorb things and enjoy myself and wowee that's been the case this week. I'm currently obsessing over a scan of the Darkstalkers artbook. It really strongly showed me everything that I loved about reading manga as a 12 year old.

These Bengus illustrations have SO MUCH VOLUME, I adore them and at the same itme have wonderful graphic lines. I don't know why a thick line containing the forms drawn with fine little lines  is soo delicious, but it is. For me anyways.

They inspired me to make some of these drawings which led to me accidentally combining two brushes and making a new one that captures the watercolor/marker look that I've been really into in Dragonball pinups and whatnot. That just barely pre-digital manga art era. So nice.

That's my rambling for the day.  Thank you again for all the kind wishes and while I'm still definitely taking it easy this week, I plan to do a little bit of drawing for fun regardless and I'll share the results.

My plan is to keep playing with these brushes and get into the poll subject matter next. I think Zelda girls and tentacle witches are going to look GOOD in this style! :)
