That last conversation about what Re:Zero is about and if Subaru will become stronger is an interesting one, if you guys want to know more about it, the author releases every April 1st(Subaru's birthday) a what if story where certain decisions were taken and an alternative route and Subaru are shown. These decisions happen whenever Subaru had to chose between a sin and a virtue, in the show he always chooses the virtue. So far we have had 4 of those moments on the show leading to the if of pride, wrath ,sloth, and in this episode greed. These stories help understand the character more and end in unthinkable situations like Subaru becoming an Archbishop of sin for example.
