The lyric in GOAT about "On one side of The Lobster, I cry" (probably a clunky translation) might be a reference to the movie or screenplay of the movie The Lobster (2015). It is still on my watchlist, so this is a pure guess on my part . It is an absurdist (sci-fi) movie where in a dystopian world, single people have to stay in a hotel where they have 45 days to find true love. If they don't find true love, they are turned into an animal of their choice and released into the woods to be hunted down by the other prisoners of the hotel. It is shot in a slightly voyeuristic style and could be seen as a dark comedy, a drama or a horror movie or even all of those genres.

The "I dont know what I expected but this is not what I expected" in a good way was exactly what I felt when I first listened to his album and led me to listen to all his solo albums. Yes, overall he is more into life experience, self appreciation, break up, and sexy lyrics more than normal love story. Maybe its from his own experience. He went a long way before he got accpeted with his ideas by fans, public, or even SM like now. SM is known as a company who would hardly give their idols that much creative freedom no matter how big they are. So he as solo and a part of SHINee went a long way before gaining SM's trust. Even with that, he often mentioned on how he had to "fight" for his ideas and opinions with SM. Remember in deep dive, he had to make a PPT presentation to convince SM to let him take part in SHINee's concert costume design. As you often mentioned about the album cover, so basically "Mr. Freak (Key himself)" is his album's main character that will go with any concept that he aimed for, this is also why he calls his fans "lil freak". He also has other character called "Boksil" the pink fluffy creature in the album cover that he developed, you will often see it in his albums' concept photos. He had an exhibition, like an interactive pop up store for his characters and ideas in his prev albums in Korean and Japan. Its called "Mr. Freak's Lab: Sweet escape", and recently Boksil also has a collaboration with Hello Kitty Korea. So yeah he actually took his creative ideas very seriously and know how to develop it into a much more interesting feature. I think SM mainly had more control over his first album only. But for the rest, he has major control, and thats exactly when all this creative stuffs started to pour in. His full solo concert is also fun and he loves to use live band for it.
