Continuing and finishing this super cool and very recent SHINee interview/variety content!

SHINee at Hangout With Yoo PT. 2 | Reaction and Commentary

Comments

I said it last time, but I’ll say it again—I highly recommend reacting to the Song Stealer episodes featuring Onew! All three of them are included in the compilation you watched here—it’s right after the Hangout with Yoo performance.

The “dibidibidis” rap is an iconic, legendary meme! :D It’s from the B-side The SHINee World (Doo Bop) on their first full album. It’s basically OG lore—an introductory song to SHINee—predating tracks like aespa’s Aenergy. There are a few cool performances of it, like this one: https://youtu.be/fpaw4Rb0DL0 Yes, you once reacted to the live performance of Stand By Me (Boys Over Flowers OST)! It’s still one of their most-streamed songs. Was the song you were thinking of Low by Flo Rida? I can actually hear the similarity! That came out in 2007, and Lucifer dropped in 2010. Lucifer was actually produced by Bebe Rexha, an American artist—so she might’ve drawn some inspiration from it, or just from the general music scene back then. The “Moo-cifer” guy did it again with Onew on Song Stealer last year! :D Jonghyun had writing credits on SHINee songs as early as 2009 with Juliette—that was the first song he ever wrote for them. Minho also wrote his own rap for it. Over time, they had more songs written by Jonghyun and occasionally co-written by Minho and/or Key (mostly the rap parts). But the album that’s usually cited as the first where they had significant creative control is Odd (the View album) in 2015. Before that, SM mostly picked the songs and concept, but from Odd onward, the members had more say in their direction. The most viewed SHINee song on YouTube is Ring Ding Dong, while Replay has the most streams on Spotify. But in terms of iconic-ness, you’re not wrong—it’s probably Sherlock. The members themselves often pick Sherlock or View as their favorites. I’d say those two, along with Lucifer, Replay, and Ring Ding Dong, make up the top 5. No, SNSD debuted in 2007 and SHINee in 2008. I think the variety show you watched with SNSD was just from a year or a few years before this one, so their anniversary year was probably lower there. By the way—I love your Death Note shirt, Valen! :D

SO HAPPY WITH THIS REACTIONNNNNN

Actually, MJ's choreographer (Tony Testa) also choreographed Sherlock, haha. It was SM's most expensive choreography at the time.
