Important Announcement

Hello everyone!

First and foremost, I want to thank you all for supporting us for so long. Letting us chase this cream for over 10 years now is something truly amazing, and we hope that things have been as special for you as it has been for us.

That said, we are in a position where we have decided that changes need to be made to the way Las Lindas handles its bonus comics. We have gotten ourselves into a very difficult situation, both on the art side and on the writing side and a change needs to happen to help us enjoy things further, both as artists and storytellers.

On the artist side, I am juggling Las Lindas, 4 bonus comics, the Ask the High Prime blog and commissions, not to mention the regular request streams. Likewise, the writing side has been undergoing some major changes as well. With Soulkat moving to a more peripheral position in the comic, there is no writer or creative control going on for Learning Curves or Dungeons and Dames currently. Also, I don’t think it is any mystery that we have struggled with the updating schedule of bonus comics. We’ve tried a lot of different methods, but nothing so far has really worked in getting out content, but also being able to tell a coherent story with them. After all, it’s hard to read a book when you can only read 4 pages every 3-4 months.

So over the past few weeks, myself, Soulkat, Badxash and Curran spent time discussing what to do. We have a lot of considerations to make, both on the side of the Patreon, but also what we want to do as storytellers now and into the future. Right now, we are facing a couple of clear, difficult problems:

The long and short of things is that we need to make some major cuts into the bonus comics. Specifically, we want to cut it down to one bonus comic to update and maintain, giving it speed and the ability to actually finish in a reasonable amount of time. This comic would be Knighthood, as the other comics are either empty in terms of a head writer position, or can be more effectively covered with things like the Ask the High Prime blog. The main reason for this is to actually make it so that we have some cleared space, and we can write with an ending in mind. However, we also know that there’s a lot of love for all of the bonus comics, so we don’t want to just say “these are gone, deal with it”, so we are going to be running a Strawpoll to determine which is the best option to consolidate and manage the other bonus comics.

The two choices you’ll have will be:

  1. Change immediately to the new bonus update schedule of only Knighthood. But incorporate elements of the cut bonus comics into Las Lindas as part of the ongoing story. In short, while pages of LC would stop appearing, we would work to show what happened through LC into LL.
  2. Continue the 4-page bonus update schedule for the cut comics, but use their last 4 pages to wrap things up, and cut them later. This gives a more concentrated dose of the storylines, but would also mean that we might not incorporate those things into LL as well.

Basically, it’s a choice if you want a big dose of those comics in a “finale” sort of way, or would you rather the content be woven into LL and made part of that story. It is not an easy choice, but for our sake, it’s one we as artists have to make, otherwise we will be grinding slowly away for years to come.

The Future

Some might have noticed that I talk about the future a lot here, and projects down the line. There’s a reason for that, as well as a reason why Knighthood is important to stick around. I’ve always been in a weird place with my setting, with an epic and more action-driven story on one side (the Knights, the Crests, and so on) and a more down to earth, slice of life story with romance and personal growth on the other (Las Lindas, etc). It’s a difficult balancing act and one that I and the writers have fought with for quite a long time. But at long last, I think I and the writers have started to put together something new and fresh that blends these two sides into one, with a new story and characters in the same setting. And Knighthood will be important to develop some of those base ideas needed for this future project, so it will be allowed to run to get those ideas going over the next calendar year.

I’m not sure when all this is going to begin, at least a year from now, but the other big news here is that we are starting to plan a new major comic to show up when Las Lindas comes to its natural end. I don’t want to commit much to details right now, but it is big and it is in the works.

Here is the link to the poll, please take a moment to vote:

I agree with GlitterVigors. You got to juggling so many plot threads that it slowed down everything. I think incorporating the Learning Curves stuff into the main comic is a good idea. Most of the Learning Curves plot threads have been resolved. Any lingering material could serve as background exposition for characters in the main comic. Breasts are Beast being mostly a gonzo style ecchi story, I think the material is already covered in Ask the High Prime. Dungeons and Dames while funny has progressed very slowly. So, I won't really miss it. Though I like that you reference the gaming group in the main comic, showing some of the side characters interacting outside of work and meeting with characters outside of the farm.

I support this decision 100%. This is actually something I have been asked about by other fans, and I was actually hoping one day to get an announcement like this. It's been very easy to see the past couple of years that the workload has just been having a draining effect. To the point where it has without question come at the cost of the main comic. As much as I love the side comics, the main comic is why we're all here. It's how this whole thing got started. The main comic has been crawling along the more obligations Chalo and the others have to fulfill. It stinks if you really like one of the bonus comics, but it's all unnecessary save for Knighthood. It would be nice to reduce the workload to main comic, Knighthood, Ask the High Prime blog, and the stream requests. I think it's a great idea. Like I said, I've been hoping for this announcement because of how clearly things were not working out as they are now. I'm very happy and looking forward to seeing the changes! <3

How about outsourcing some of the storylines? Have Curran, Badxash, and Soulkat ask for suggestions, writing samples, and offer a commission (of the characters they're writing about) to whoever they determine should write for said comic. Whoever gets the job would have to keep to the basic storyline, be sworn to secrecy about what happens, and would be paid with a commission (two if the comic is supposed to be very long) all so that the writers would have more time to work on other projects.

More than just a comic. Breasts are the Best and Dungeons and Dames sound like they will be discontinued for good, with the possibility of Learning Curves being incorporated somewhat into the main story.

TodaysPassenger

Okay. Ow I understand the situation but I'm still concerned because I'm curios if the other comics such as breast are the best will continue into the main comic like learning curves with the first option

Real1

Wait with one of these options is there a possibility will lose a comic

Real1

Same, but I'd rather see Learning Curves be kept.

TodaysPassenger

I'm good with whatever you guys go with :3

Trenchbound

Personally, I don't follow Knighthood. I'd rather that Breasts Are The Best be kept... ;)
