New song demo! ♬"Playback Memory"♬

Hey guys, as I promised last Saturday, here's a new song just for your ears, enjoy! 🎶☺️

This was the first song I made after my first surgery last year and the following month in bed due to complications. There were moments when I thought I wouldn't come back from that, so when I was able to sit down in front of my piano and computer for the first time, I wasn't really sure what I wanted to say. The experience of my first major surgery and all the pain and delirium that followed left me with a different set of feelings. One was emptiness, because even in the worst moments I couldn't see or feel anything otherworldly around me (that doesn't mean there isn't anything out there, it's just that I didn't feel any of it, but oddly enough it made me believe more strongly in my gut feeling that we are living in some kind of dream or simulation). Another recurring feeling was gratitude for still being here, and another: I needed to get my shit together and be the musician I was always meant to be.

So, with that in mind, I started breaking all my previous rules, and these and a few other songs began to emerge. I started just having fun, enjoying the pure act of creation. Also, the AI had improved a lot in the two months I had been away, so I started playing with it, just to tell my older self that anything was possible from now on. I didn't go for an AI that would do something for me, because that's not interesting, instead I decided to try a more chaotic and obscure method that involved programming and a lot of trial and error. To test my approach, I fed it the acapella of my song "Living On My Own," and the results, after a morning of trying different iterations, were the voices you hear here. Believe it or not, these are my vocals, just chopped and filtered to the max. And the result was fun, so for a while I considered this song to be the opening track of the upcoming album, especially because of the eerie melody you can hear at the beginning, middle and end of the song. That melody was my first pure composition, the first thing that came out of that experience, and it still resonates within me. 

But a few months ago, I decided not to use that song for the album, mainly because of AI's involvement, even if it was minimal. I don't want to risk the rest of the songs. So I may release this song or a version of it under a pseudonym, or just keep it here and in my vault. Don't know yet, don't have to decide. But I thought you might like it, so please let me know what you think. 

Recovery is going slowly, I have been in a lot of pain since my first breakfast away from home last Sunday. It was great to get out, but the price I pay is always high. Today I was feeling a little better so I decided it was time to share this with you. Happy Tuesday 😘 ❤️
