Yeah I realized the same thing. I just watch the normal version and there isn't a big difference beside episode 4

2022-09-01 18:58:55 +0000 UTCAs you can see, they inserted parts of the deleted scene back in for the special edition. In the original version, the entire conversation at the office was deleted. We only got to see they work out that ShuYi’s dad probably hacked their email and the scene ends at the “your dad””my dad” bit. Everything after that was not in the original version.

In the novel it mentions that when ShuYi called Shide, Ashley was the one who answered the phone, which added to the misunderstanding. Shide was busy taking care of his mother so he was usually exhausted when he spoke to ShuYi. From Shuyi’s point of view, he would have thought Shide’s mind is just not there or he has lost interest in the relationship. Later on, Shuyi’s phone was confiscated by his father and by that point ShuYi has already decided to cut ties with Shide. It was a pity the drama didn’t explain the reason better, but I guess they had time constraints. In relation to the deleted scene, the director said he cut it out because he felt that there were already too much emotions for episode 4. For me, doesn’t really make sense. It’s probably more to do with the available air time, since it’s only about 30 minutes per episode and only 6 episodes per season. A bit of a pity. I felt the plot could have been much better if only they had enough air time. Even if they had to add another episode to expand on the story would have made a whole lot of difference.

Taiwanese series never lets me down because I always know that it’s going to be a good one. Going to be sad when you finish this series, but I’m also excited for you both to explore more Taiwanese BLs! If you need recommendations, I would be more than happy to give you some.

2022-08-31 22:01:00 +0000 UTCYes, the conversation in the office was slightly different. One is in Japanese and one is in mandarin. Shi De would have learnt Japanese for ShuYi, because remember in Season one in the park, he confessed to ShuYi in Japanese.
