Meliodas has his emotions drained more and more as he dies. His emotions didn’t know of a way out because they’ve never escaped on their own but for his physical body it doesn’t need to know of an exit because it comes back no matter what. He said before that he was locked up previously inferring that he’s been there a long time. This time must’ve been enough to push him over the edge especially since the other commandments were set free and he now has access to them to become the next demon king

2023-08-17 01:01:33 +0000 UTCthen he would know a way out of purgatory the only reason he knows about the curse is because Elizabeth told him during her first life and explained it, if he did die then we would have seen a way different meliodas than we actually have seen.

Nevermind that when he died and talked to his dad that he described his situation in such a way that he was clearlyy familiar with it, but he also drunkenly babbled to Zaratras (that we saw when the latter used his druid powers to conjure one of his memories for Elizabeth to see) that he's tried everything he could think of but the curse won't let him, which was in response to Zaratras saying that he would die if he was under the same curse. A very unsubtle implication that he has tried to take his own life in the past.

2023-08-15 22:19:03 +0000 UTCThis is the first time meliodas has died because his curse makes it to we're he doesn't age so he wouldn't have any reason to die during 3000 years since everyone else besides humans, fairies, and giants had been basically sealed so there wasn't a threat to a upper demon like meliodas.
