I cane back to watch this after seeing your Jurassic World video and wanted to say that those raptors being able to open doors is actually not that uncommon in animals. It's such a feat that almost definitely proves an animal is intelligent but still, even my cat can do it. Opening a door is actually just like the next step of pulling a drawer, which most pets can do. But it's still such an interesting thing to happen, considering the fact that the animal doing that has to have some level of imagination at least. And a way of logical thinking to make the connection between 2 seemingly unrelated actions. For example: some kid throwing a rock to hit a target. Being able to do that means that the organism in question can understand that it can't achieve it's goal directly and is also able to simulate various scenarios that incorporate a seemingly unrelated object in a way that will help it achieve it's goal in it's head. So basically thinking more than one step ahead and also possessing object permanence and basic logical thinking. Crows and some other bird species and almost every mammal species (but especially primates) has this ability to some extent. Even some invertebrates like Cuttlefish and Octopodes have some sort of ability like that. Most of these animals can't do stuff like opening doors, yes. But one has to understand that it's for a very very simple reason: They just have no use for them to develop such ability. They are capable of doing that, at least in their minds, but have no reason to to that. That is the reason behind it. Also, thanks for reading my random rant(?) (or for not reading it because I know it's LONG and you have no reason to read this if you don't want to anyways.)

2024-12-30 12:48:46 +0000 UTCAlaskan here to say that the dinosaurs being able to figure out how to open doors? Realistic! We have bears here that have figured it out. Not the doorknobs (I don't think...), but those push-down types and even car door handles that lift up. My parents and a friend both had their cars broken into by bears. One figured out how to get through my gate into the backyard, too. These raptors have been built up as super-intelligent in this particular movieverse, and there is no question in my mind that they could figure out what real-life wild bears can. There's been much debate about how Timmy survived. I don't know much about electricity, but it's something about voltage vs. wattage and the fact that he wasn't grounded, stuff like that. Apparently, it was conceivable that he could survive? I have no idea, and I've just let that one go as movie magic. With that in mind, I figure the kids were able to push the dinosaur back in the freezer because it was slipping on the ice and didn't have enough traction to use its full strength? Yeah, there is some suspension of disbelief, but it's a fun movie!
