the way i see that analogy is back at the start of this season washijo (ushijimas coach) has a monologue about how short people have a hunger to grow (technically grow so they can catch up to the taller player) then it cuts to hinata cyclying and he screams out ahhh im starving. i think this is a play on that because hinata is going up against such a strong opponent that his hunger is just getting stronger and stonger.
