technically all movies happened before the events of cobra kai its just in season 3 going forward there are characters introduced from the other films however if were being real season 2 episode 2 starts referencing and showing easter eggs from other films too so it really just depends if you want to continue until season 3

You’ll definitely need to check out karate kid 2 before season 2 or you probably won’t get most of it. Also watching the 3rd movie could help but I wouldn’t say it’s mandatory since there isn’t many big references
