Ye i know I'm late to the party, but yeah i agree with some of comments, your hate on Iris is actually more annoying than Iris herself at this point. You never bother to understand where she comes from, I don't think you ever had a real love in your life, cuz if you did you would understand some of her points. For example if I was in Iris's shoes I would rather die with the love of my life than let that love of my life sacrifice itself for me and other people/city. For some people losing their true love is worse than dying. which you can't understand unless you really love someone so deeply. Cayseron, that's the exact reason why I'm losing interested in watching Don and yes I maybe will stop watching him. And I know it won't really make a different, he is just too harsh on any characters. It's what frustrated me with his DBS reactions especially during the TOP. I'm not saying that whenever he is disagreeing, that he is wrong or that the writing is actually perfect. He just needs to stop trying to find ways to dis everyone. The thing that I do notice is that when others try and compliment each other, more often than not he will just disagree with it and insult the complimented person. Like let them be actual friends and support each other. The most recent moment of this that I do remember is that Supergirl complimented the team for being able to defeat the aliens. And she said that all of them weren't enough to equal both Supergirl and Superman but they still were able to pull it off. And she told them that they are the world finest superheroes. Don just said no they ain't, like back off of them, let them build confidence. And the Earth-2 thing was a dumb move by Barry but when you see the people you had by your side your entire life, it's kind of hard not to feel attached. I'll never blame Barry for getting attached as an emotional person, no matter how dumb it was. Especially when you have never done that before, if he got too attached to another Earth then that's when it's a different story. I can get where Don is coming from sometimes but that doesn't mean he has to be harsh all the time. That's just not my type of reactor. I seriously don't know why I'm still watching him for this long. Sorry to be a hater, but this is just my thoughts on this conversation.

neither Cisco nor Caitlin were fit to be leaders. Caitlin was busy turning a blind eye to Amunet selling people into slavery because she thought she was benefiting from her tech. Cisco was trying to bring Barry back despite the risk to the city. When did he step up to be leader in S6 he had to be hand held through the entire experience and almost gave up when Barry was possessed by Bloodwork. Team Flash with either of them leading wouldn't last 6 months. It should've been Harry idk why they didn't go with him but that just leaves Iris. Wally was just starting out.

I know no one is going to read this cause why would you. Iris is not well written and neither is Barry, but the bullshit that Barry does has put their world in danger several times. Season 3 happens because of Barry's emotions and how he felt. He only "sacrifices" himself to "save the world" because he put it in danger. Then he returns six months later expecting her to just be fine like nothing happened is stupid and selfish, but yet she is stupid and selfish for saying he left her. She understood, but it doesn't change the fact that he didn't and doesn't consider any of team Flash when he makes decisions. Then expects them to help him fix his selfish mistakes. He acts and reacts out of emotion yet it's over looked cause what, he's the Flash. That's not good enough for me. If you hate Iris just to hate her stand in it. I would respect that more.

From my perspective, she is hurt and rightfully was extremely sad because of what happened. Barry's decision to go in the speed force was obviously the best thing to do, but even if someone picks the best possible option, it can be really sad. I don't think Barry deserves any blame whatsoever, obviously, it was him or the entire world, but Iris has a right to feel sad. Angry? No, but definitely upset. Barry said that he only remembered going into the Speed Force and then waking up in STAR Labs, whereas for everyone else it was 6 months of losing Barry; the sadness isn't weighted equally between Barry and Iris, it's Barry being euphoric and Iris still healing

Iris has a right to be upset, she felt abandoned. Just because someone is doing something “good” doesn’t mean people have to like it. I support Iris and her feelings. On a side note Barry caused all of that and yes he needed to fix it, but he knew that and gave no one a heads up that he once again messed up and would probably have to go away to fix it. This is all Barry’s fault. For anyone who’s seen the show is this the season where Barry starts to… Barry? I haven’t watched the show since I stopped in season 7 or 8 when it was still airing. This is all from a psychological perspective, given Iris’ past with her mother’s death, her reaction is on-point. Also, her saying “we are the flash” is very very true. Barry would have gotten that guy killed if Iris didn’t tell him. Now, everyone else in star labs is equally the Flash too. So the idea that Barry and Iris alone are the flash would be untrue. But the point of all of this is Barry doesn’t have to carry everything on his own, that’s what burnt him out the last time. Being married does mean being a team, so I do get how important it is for Barry to consult with everyone. I’m team “iris feels are real and valid, but definitely on the grand scheme of things not as high on the priority list” but feelings aren’t supposed to be compared anyways due to the tendency for humans to not voice when things are wrong. I think if we were to weigh right and wrong, Iris would be wrong. BUT her feelings are valid, just because Barry was doing it for a good cause doesn’t mean that Iris wasn’t abandoned in the span of five seconds after 6 months of thinking she was going to die. Her solution to get therapy was the healthiest move too. Therapy is good when communication is foggy because of the third person who can act as a buffer. Again, just because something is morally right doesn’t mean people don’t get hurt. And Iris has a right to her feelings. Remember how Katara (in ATLA) was angry with her dad for going to war, no one said anything then (actually maybe Don did, but he was more understanding). I do think Iris can be annoying and wrong, but she isn’t crazy for feeling left.

I can agree with that.. they definitely don't know what to do with the characters.. and they started to lose direction (spoilers for later seasons) But they completely lost direction of what to do with Frost and Caitlin later on..why did we even get Khione instead of Caitlin for the final season. Cisco ended up using the meta cure but then made a machine to get them back.. and left. No idea what they were thinking with that. Kamilla is fine but Gypsy was a much better match for Cisco. As for Iris I feel like later on they just sidelined her and Barry completely. Iris was stuck in a mirror for S6-S7...had the time sickness in S8 and was barely around. I like that they had her focus on journalism but then they just abandoned that plot line just to make it about saving her instead of giving her an arc like Lois Lane. Barry just became Flash. We stopped seeing so much of his personality. Chester, Allegra, and Cecile took the center stage...

i wouldnt be able to say it better if i tried. I am aware there must be some dumb idiots who actually give hate to Candice even though she is simply doing her job, but in general its writers fault. And my reason for hating IRIS (not candice) is cause they cant write her character. Its a huge red flag when someone is not in the show cause they are important character and have lot to contribute and is only there to fill the "love interest" role. Every time character purpose is the role and not the character its doomed to fail. s1 was all about Barry's crush, s2 was all about them dating, s3 is all about saving barry's LI... her plot is never relevant to iris as character but more her as barry's love interest that is why its so terribly written. her "plot" is "just there" to make her feel relevant while pushing the plot forward. as if they cant motivate flash to be a hero unless they repeatedly throw his love interest in the pan, or out of the pan into the fire...

Fair enough. I think I'm just more lenient on her character because I know the writers..most cw shows add unnecessary drama for no reason regardless of the character and without fully fleshing it out. I've found every character somewhat annoying at a certain point but the only character that truly angered me was Cecile I think. But by then the show was hanging by a thread cuz of Eric Wallace anyway ig. Also I do think Iris has redeeming moments for me personally. Candice's acting is great. And later on from S4, her involvement in team flash drops and she gets her own arc as a journalist which made sense. The mirror arc was solid (despite Eva being defeated with talk no jutsu lmao). I just wish she and every character had a better script to work with that didnt add in unnecessary drama for every small reason. It's like they lost the direction for everyone.

Don was hard on Cisco as well about his fight with KF. I think in all that fiasco he only "realized" Cisco's angle when Cisco said "every happy memory i have in my life, you are in it" (i can't remember exact quote). and then he laid off of Cisco a bit about not wanting to fight back seriously. I dont think Don denies character to have flaws and/or be emotional, i think he is harsh critic about when it make and doesnt make sense. Which i understand can be controversial as emotions are subjective matter so what some people would say is ok to be emotional about others could be completely against and both can be right in same time. Don hated Barry so much when he started carrying about earth 2 Iris and Joe more than mission and he doubled down on that hate when Barry got Joe killed because of it. But he was more than supportive to have barry go back in time and save his mom. Difference is, saving mom especially after losing your dad has emotional logic behind it and if it is harming people around you at least you dont know until you learn about it and then its too late. In case of earth two situation its blatantly obvious that Barry is doing a stupid thing and every harm that comes from it is kind of "NO SHIT SHERLOCK". I totally respect Don's angle and approach even when he is too harsh on characters because of the moments when he realize their angle and he accepts it when it make sense. IMO there is nothing worse in long running shows then inconsistency and Don has no respect for inconsistency so he is cool in my eyes :D Back to original comment though, aka back to Iris, i will point out that even though it is obvious Iris is Don's most hateable character you can still see that he did not want to see her die at hands of Savitar. Let me address the Speed Force thing, I don’t think she was that mad that he left (although considering the Lightning Storm he had no real choice) but she was mad he came back and pretended nothing happened. Also she mentioned she was left alone for months while he was gone and while she was fine to feel alone, you can still give Barry the benefit of the doubt given the reason he actually left. I mean it’s not like he just up and abandoned her for no random reason. To put it simply she and everyone else understood why he had to do it but they didn’t have to like it. While I agree that the writing is corny and creates unnecessary drama..People often lack nuance. Iris isn't illiterate and you dont really need a phd to make tough calls or to out think low level crooks or metas. She's not the "least qualified person in the room" despite people pretending she's a dumbass who can't string two sentences together. Cisco is no leader and season 6 proved it. He literally prioritized trying to save Barry over the right thing in that moment. He also hesitates and let's his emotions get in the way. Caitlin always lies and runs away at the first sign of trouble. She acts out of self interest several times. Again, no leadership skills whatsoever. Harry and Joe are the only ones who could have been leader over Iris but Joe had his own job. Idk why they didn't go with Harry. I am not even going to touch the "we are the Flash" part. It wasn't meant to be taken literally. It just meant that when you're married you're supposed to be a team.

Yeah but the thing is in shows, characters aren't supposed to be perfect. Sometimes they're illogical or emotional..they have outbursts and feelings that aren't logical because feelings themselves aren't logical and ignoring that aspect can remove an important aspect to consider imo.. Don sometimes gets easily triggered when a character shows a flaw. While Iris's writing hasn't always been the best I think that's the case for several others. HR, realistically, did nothing for the team yet people love him just because he's comic relief and complain about Iris being there... Cisco imo would be a worse team leader because despite being smart is controlled by his emotions and cannot make tough calls. He lost to Killer Frost several time just because he let his emotions get the better of him. I think the issue is the writing more than a specific character. People think Barry would've been better with Patty but honestly ..the flash writers would've done the same thing her character if they had ended up together. Iris is a bit annoying in these two episodes but people definitely blow it outta proportion.. she's fine later on imo and literally moves on from the team to focus more on Journalism in the later half of s4 and s5 onwards. Her character was barely even in the show after S6 but people still complain. I'd say Cecile in the later seasons is far worse than Iris ever was.

Most people hate her cause of the "we are the flash" line, at least that is what made hating iris popular and mainstream. But honestly she is terrible from get go. List of negative things about Iris character just goes on and on. First she is totally oblivious about Barry's crush even though they knew each other since they were kids but in the same time have savant level of journalist hunch whenever plot needs her to have it. Then she dates Eddie but goes on to sabotage Barry's relationships out of some unexplained feelings but once Barry becomes available she backpedals to making it look like Barry is a weirdo for having feelings for her in the first place. One moment she goes full bitch mode cause people keep secrets from her even if those secrets are clasified (police stuff) but then in next episode she goes around acting behind peoples back having secrets of her own. She constantly tries to prove how she is independent and strong woman but whenever people leave her alone she goes full bitch mode about how people dont pay enough attention to her or dont care enough about her. The consistency of her character between episodes is non-existent. in season 3 one episode she uses the knowledge of her future death to go full suicidal mode thinking she cant die as her death is set in stones, even saying i quote "i wont die today" while staring the gunman down and leaning in the gun barrel, and then next episode she starts crying about how scared she is and how its unfair, but then next episode she start hating barry for doing everything he can think of to save her life cause it does not fit her stupid little princess brain. "you tainted our marriage because you rushed it in hopes to save my life". and even if we try to take her side and say that its ok, lets wait to save her life first and then propose to her when she knows barry does it out of love and not out of fear of losing her, she goes on and accepts second proposal anyways even though nothing changes but at least he sang a song while doing it. I mean just in this episode alone, she goes from "we are barry and iris" to "we need couple therapy" in one argument and it wasnt even argument, barry SAID he was sorry and admitted he made mistake but that was enough for Iris to think "ever since he came out of speed force he stopped being all "yes iris" so i need to fix him". I honestly fail to see how anyone can justify any of this and say she is good character. I admit hating her for a single line is overrated and stupid, but her character is way worse

Don, PLEASE react to the Flash until Crisis. (Mid s6) The first half of season 5 was good and the second was also decent, especially the ending was great. And for season 6 it's great until crisis ends and then it starts to go downhill (it is still decent imo, but many disagree) Crisis is also the point where literally every single cw show collabs. (Except for superman and Lois but that isn't canon)
