Medicine would be infinitely worse without technology. you think cancer is life threatening today? without technology diarhea would be lethal disease. organ transplants, organ removals... none of it would be posible without technology. on the other hand, because we rely on technology so much people are getting lazier, dumber, incompetent... yes it makes life easier, yes it objectively is main reason why life expectancy is doubled if not tripled, but it is also lowering the value of said life so it makes you think

Yes 1st makes perfect sense but when it was formed you did not have phones, internet, tiktok etc... the worst an idiot with freedom of speech can do is force you to walk to other side of the street. now any idiot can go online and write a fake story and milions of idiot followers will believe it to be true so the power a single idiot with freedom of speech is infinitely bigger and worse for mankind than it was when freedom of speech was formed. Same as second amendment, i am not taking sides on whether its good to keep having it or not and whether we should take the guns away from civilians etc. but objectively you cant deny that there is huge difference between time when this amendment was created and today. worst you could do back in that time is run around with multiple pistols filled, charged and ready to unload. after that its back to gunpowder recharge. you cant compare it to today where underage kid can get fully automated assault rifle with 40-60 bullets magazine. To circle it around to technology, yes it helped lot of people and it made lives easier but opposite is also true. One can make an argument that without technology as we know it today we wouldnt survive but that is one thing i call cap on. Cavemen did not have brick houses, they did not have armors and machine guns yet they survived and kept the lineage going. And they did it in time where you can wake up and find a sabertooth in your living room (so to speak, they didnt really have living rooms, just caves) meanwhile we struggle to keep our population from dying FROM PEANUT ALLERGIES. so many people today would starve to death if takeaways all get shut down, even if they are literally 5 minutes walk away from nearest restaurant. Imagine hunting your own food, fighting with the prey because you can just as easily end up being the prey's food as it yours, then skinning and cooking it yourself, AND you dont have youtube video or google to see how to do it, not even a cookbook. Technology definitely made human kind handicaped as we can't provide for ourselves as much but i wouldnt say its entirely bad

2024-09-05 18:45:36 +0000 UTCOkay, here’s what confused me to some degree, Marlize’s change to supporting Clifford after the attack was because she couldn’t believe that so many people were killed over a simple piece of technology. But a water purifier is not a simple piece of technology and when people are willing to kill for something like that it’s because the resource (drinkable water) is scarce. Now if we knew that the militia group wanted to sell the technology for money, then that’s closer to Marlize’s new outlook. Killing for money. But killing for survival feels less like what Clifford is talking about which is technology corrupting mankind. This is just something I was pondering because I didn’t feel like what happened to Marlize was an actual true example of what Clifford’s manifest is about. Or Marlize just didn’t understand how important the water purifier was. (this is something that I hope isn’t true cuz that would really lower Marlize’s intellect as well as negate a lot of the compassion her character is supposed to have) That being said I can still understand how the attack would have shaken Marlize, but I just didn’t think it would have changed her to the degree she needed to be in order to accept and support Clifford’s enlightenment plan. It’s one thing to agree with a perspective, it’s another to implement the plan
