Yeah, I know dark is just an example from my experience and preferred forms of shows I love ATLA, not because it's dark or anything, just because it's fun and has a good story, I just use dark as a prime example but yeah, good story telling plays a good part too, whilst never for everyone, but it's always never judge by it's age rating and just give it a shot try just 5-6 episodes then you'll have an answer if you'll continue or not Another example I forgot is Steven Universe, now that shit grabbed me so hard I popped, at the start, slow, episodic until it starts delving more into Rose which kept me interested, then by the season 1 finale fully hooked and locked in for the rest, great story, great lore about Rose as you slowly uncover it, just gotta push yourself sometimes Not a fan of the judging by age-rating but what can you do, but yeah thanks for pointing it out!!

XX, I agree with what you are saying (though I haven’t myself seen Gravity Falls) but I’d also like to say that I think it goes beyond just being dark. I think a kid’s show can be really good without having to be dark. Dark or not, a good story is a good story. Like I dunno if I’d even call something like Avatar dark. Sure it pushes the envelope with what’s usually shown in a kid’s show, but I think most of its value comes from great storytelling and excellent characters, not from being dark.

I mean there's many great kids shows, age-rating doesn't mean it's not good for even adults to watch it Gravity falls gets dark but has them episodic episodes for the kids then adults/teenagers can get into it because of how dark it can get at times and interesting the mystery around Gravity falls is Same applied to ATLA, I say don't judge a book by it's cover I mean there's centaur world despite how goofy and wacky that God forsaken show was by season 2 it got so dark for no reason, it was a ride, starting with being just for kids then got dark That's how kids shows like Gravity falls works and many love gravity falls, some for nostalgia, some for the mystery element, some for the dark vibes and all that
