BC is how it used to be written but with religion declining as well as the church having less influence on certain governments it has been change to BCE. The same for AD and CE which both mean the same era "AD loosely meaning after the birth of christ" and "CE meaning common or current era which is the same time period as AD". Basically history was documented in reverse with 4000BC/4000BCE counting down to 1BC/1BCE then when it hits 0 it counts up to 1AD/1CE all the way to present day which is 2024AD/2024CE.
