He literally got shot in the back with arrows cuz he was caught off guard and fell for the same trick again when Oliver tranquilized him. Oliver was even able to subdue Thawne in S1 and Thawne was much faster than Barry and a much better fighter. Just because Barry's super fast doesn't mean he's incapable of being caught off guard or in a trap. All it would take is for Oliver to disable Barry's speed and he'd go for the kill lmao. Take away Barry's speed and he's just a lab nerd. We've seen Barry be bested be far weaker villians. He struggled against Snart, got whooped by a mannequin, and couldn't outrun robot bees ffs.

Same thing happened to me around season 4. Episodes became formulaic and I started using my head more being more critical of the writing and completely lost interest in the show by S5. He has the tech to disable Barry's powers temporarily. And unlike Barry..Oliver can acc go for the kill without hesitsting. Barry mastered his powers later on and he relies on that but in any situation where Oliver gets the jump on him, or sets a trap, or dampens Barry's powers.. he's done for.

It's that Oliver IS capable of killing Barry in the right circumstances.... especially S1 Barry.. all he needs is Felicity's or Ray's help to whip up some gizmo that negates Barry's speed and boom..it's night night Flash. let's not forget that Oliver was able to hold his own against Thawne with the Nanites arrow in S1 Flash lmao.. ultimately it's whoever the writer's decide that's the winner.. if Batman can kill Superman with kryptonite I don't see why Oliver couldn't beat Barry. Oliver had a bigger contribution in defeating Thawne in S1 with his nanites arrows than Barry himself. Plus Oliver clearly plans ahead. He had a kryptonite Arrow to defeat Overgirl lol. Without prep..sure Barry wins but with Prep time..Oliver can still take it. I think they did confirm that Barry won this one later on but I do think Oliver would crush S1 Barry in the right circumstances and if he really wanted to.
