2024-10-10 04:01:33 +0000 UTCI was also quite disappointed in Maria this episode. Her rushing the very public call to a manhunt for Tucci was expected given her ambitious nature as far as we've seen. Rough and ill-advised, but understandable with her personality. But prematurely calling the mother, starting with, "I have *amazing* news," when it was merely HOPEFUL news at best, was really dumb, and IMO unprofessional. She got very, very lucky (and so did Tucci, tbf) that he was found alive. If he had died before they found him, with the mother knowing he *had* been alive and the cops failed to save him....on top of the original accusations of Tucci being the killer...man, she would have had one hell of a basis for a lawsuit. I think we are seeing that Maria makes some poor judgment calls and choices for a person in such an important position, and I find that, well, rather interesting. So many procedural shows, they often display such characters as being at the top of their game, making great (and lucky) calls, not often failing and even then usually because of circumstances out of their control. It's refreshing that they give us Maria, an ambitious but flawed character who has thus far appeared to be somewhat out of her depth when it comes to her job position. She's not terribly likeable (again, IMO), but she is interesting. My favorite non-Morgan character in this series so far is Angel Bautista. I really like Doakes, but I couldn't say he's a likeable person, LOL, but Angel definitely is.
