I'm not saying he's always right or anything, but I do love the fact that he goes about situations in a friendly/respectful way before he starts making threats and getting violent. I wish Damon wasn't so dumb and paranoid. He stays getting himself and other people in danger. I don't really like Masons character too much, but it was not his fault that all of that started. I didn't blame him for telling Liz. I felt so bad for Caroline, she deserved so much better. I kind of noticed that Caroline's relationship with her mom is kind of like the Giberts relationship with John. We came into the show with Caroline already disliking her mom with little explanations, and it's the same with the Gilberts and John. The first episode he showed up in, they showed dislike to him. I wish they would have showed how it gotten to those points for both sides.

One thing I absolutely loved as well was how Liz was the one person who wasn't family or love interest to truly chip at Damon's armor. We saw that first when he sort of grilled Caroline for being a bitch to her mom. Little gradual character-dev shifts like that makes this show ngl
