He should have "set her free" in the right words when he told her to leave, but he didn't really do that. I hate how people forget the fact that Caroline isn't just friends with Elena, she's friends with Stefan too. I would have told Stefan about Elena and Damon too tbh. He deserved to know and I have a feeling Damon or Elena wouldn't have told him anything, Damon literally told Elena not to tell Stefan anything for a while just so they can stay happy or whatever. I love the fact that Caroline cares about Stefan because it's very clear Elena and Damon don't around this time. Hayley is so fucked up for what she did, I loved her character. I know he left on his own, but it was obvious he felt like he had no other choice considering Elena showed up at their door and said she had no place to go. That was a lame ass excuse when she could have stayed at Caroline's house instead of Stefan. Caroline obviously could have hosted Elena considering she let Stefan stay. Elena is full of shit and rude af. I felt bad for Stefan. No one would want to stay in their own house with their ex, while they're fucking on their sibling. How pure evil is a person who basically says, "I want to know who my parents were, and so I'm going to orchestrate the MURDER OF 12 PEOPLE WHO TRUST ME." Evil bitch, she can rot in hell. That said, of course this is an interesting storyline, so no hate to the writers for it, LOL, but Hayley is not redeemable to me. She's among the worst of the worst, to have schemed to murder 12 people just to find out who her parents were. Who does that? Absolute insanity. It's not a heat-of-the-moment rage thing. She planned for a long time to get this done, premeditated every step of the way, and her only grief at Chris' earlier death is because that was one less she had for the planned sacrifice. She knew these people, worked beside them every day, looked them in the eyes, let them trust her and believe her a friend. Horrible person.
