Hey Tom! No worries- thank you for letting me know. I’ll add a new link. Once In a while or over months a GD dies out once in awhile. Whenever I get a message like this it, I add a new link. After the new links up usually takes an hour or 2 then it should work, LMK if you have any other links that are down. Thank you!

I could not see this one...allowed playbacks have been exceeded. Ugh.

Tom Racey

Just realised I meant to put this with 'The Snowmen'... :D

God this really made me enjoy Doctor Who again after a poor start to Season 7. I much preferred Clara right from the off to Amy, which helped matters and I found Coleman's chemistry with Smith here probably the best ever for so early on in a partnership, apart from maybe Tennant and Tate.

Mark Ward

Love, love, love Clara!

Stephen

That's a good assessment- this, Power of 3 and the finale, at the least, all could have benefited from extra runtime.

Sachal Ali

Poor episode. The Doctor's speech is the only good part of this IMO. Unfortunately I don't like the rest of it.

JY

That music at the start :) The Specials, Ghost Town - that's like instant time travel forme -straight back to my childhood :P

Dani C

What ‘s incoherent about it?

Honestly think this one's an incoherent mess which doesn't really help Clara's start

Yeah, Clara wins a lot of people early on..... no easy task.

Ever see The Bourne Identity? This episode was stylized after that and James Bond, because this was meant to be a “roller coaster”. It’s an urban sci-fi thriller. Thus, the different feel. I agree it feels very joyful, which is intentional since Moffat doesn’t think The Doctor should be in that dark mindset for very long and one episode of that is plenty.

Like several stories of series 7,this really felt as though it would have been much better as a two-parter (Power of Three is another, imo;and there's another one later). The story for Bells is very high concept, but it feels as though not enough was done with it because it needed to fit the 47 minute duration.

Ian Smith

The Doctor and Clara chemistry is a real winner for me. It does help soften the recent loss of the Williams. The next episode is personally one of my favourites. You mentioned particularly the music for the last couple of episodes, this is carried on for the next too I think.

Daryl

Clara‘s my favorite companion, so glad to see you like her so much already! Can‘t wait to rewatch the rest with you 🖤

Mr. K – Until you brought it up, I never realized this book exists! https://www.amazon.com/Doctor-Who-Summer-Amelia-Williams-ebook/dp/B00BGC6GG8

Thank you! Will let Gibbz know :)

Hey Abbie! Can you check now? It should work it just takes 2 hours roughly to process :)

Failwhale34

Ahhh! Thank you for the clarification that makes so much more sense. I got the snowball was him but didn’t know it was the origin and the classic like ya’ll mentioned is in between that’s actually dope!

Failwhale34

I couldn't quite tell if you're a teeny bit confused about the Great Intelligence situation, so gonna clarify it just in case. You met the Great Intelligence in the previous episode; it was the sentient snowglobe. The snow (now possessing the shell of Walter Simeon) was also the villain behind this episode. The GI *is* a Classic Who villain, but The Snowmen is its origin story. It was first born as the snow in Victorian London, then fought previous Doctors *later* in its life, but *earlier* in the show. So, the Classic Who episodes featuring the Intelligence are basically set in between The Snowmen and The Bells, from the perspective of the Intelligence.

I think they wanted to try a different sort of story arc. After a kinda predictable structure where companions only enter on a premiere / special and exit on a finale / special, they might have wanted to try a different flow with the companions unexpectedly departing in the middle of an ordinary episode (though obviously the effect was lost on viewers who followed press and knew they were leaving), and introducing a companion and their central mystery before the previous one was gone (Oswin). I don't know how well the experiment works in practice, but I think they just wanted to break away from formula a bit with the structure this time around.

Sachal Ali

This is kind of what people mean when they say they feel the season is a little wonky and disjointed though. This episode and the Dinosaur on a space ship episode? Same season, in fact thats only a few episodes ago. But they feel totally different like they're from two separate seasons. New intro, new companion, new TARDIS, Doctor has new threads, new cinematography. In fact the first half of the season was done in 2012 and the second half in 2013 so it had that gap too. So watching it live made it feel like even more of a new season over binge watching. So I'm wondering if the stuff with Amy and Rory would have worked better as specials similar to what they did at the year during the end of Tennant's run for the season to flow better. Wonder why they did it too. I mean Season 7 had production issues as you know, so I wonder if it was that or just that Karen and Arthur only signed on for a few episodes so they thought "well lets move our season 8 plans of a new companion and new tardis interior and such forward to season 7" or something like that? Or they just thought "Well we need a new companion so lets redo everything such as the interior and the intro"

The streaming link doesn’t work

Oh, and Summer Falls by "Amelia Williams" is actually a pretty good read. Local children have to stop the "Lord Of Winter" with the aid of a mysterious museum curator.

Mr K

Enjoy this episode a lot more these days. Like you said, it's a very different tone from what's gone before and new companions etc usually take a bit of getting used to. Clara was quite polarising, some loved her, some hated her. Was always going to happen after The Ponds departed. Nice reference to the actual police box in Earl's Court. There's one other actual one in a town called Boscombe that was erected in 2014.

Mr K

Awesome reaction man and just as a suggestion for your next classic who reaction could you watch the story “Spearhead from Space” personally it’s my favourite introduction to a Doctor and in general is just a great story ✌️
