***NEW SHOW POLL*** (4): Sci-fi

I actually love all three shows and I personally think they are all worth reacting to. However, I chose the Expanse because it's currently airing and the more reactors are watching, the more buzz it gets online, and the more likely it will draw more viewers and continue to get renewed (and I REALLY want this show to keep getting renewed). The other shows are finished so they can be reacted to at any time without impacting their longevity.

I encourage the expanse. Its very frustrating, its such a good show, but is an underappreciated gem and always loses out on polls like this, as Stargate and BSG are excellent shows and are more widely known. I'll pitch in my 2 cents for the expanse though. It has a good long story arc, with lots of twists and turns, WTF moments, good character developement, and spectacular visuals. Its a really richly built world that sucks you into it, much like how GoT did. In fact the novels are written by two mates of GRRM, and the man himself is a massive fan of the series. Its based on a series of novels I think 8 so far, with the final one coming later this year or early next afaik. So there is plenty of material there, so won't suffer the running out of novels problem GoT did. The fanbase is incredible and is a great community that is hungry for expanse material. Syfy cancelled the series, but the fans managed to save the series, doing things like a banner flyover of amazon HQ a few days after Syfy made the cancellation announcement. Season 4 is in post production now, and seasons 1-3 are currently on Prime. Fans are hungry for stuff to watch until the new season launches. Which goes onto my next point. There is a new season coming out later this year, so would be good to do it now before it does. BSG and Stargate will always be there. But with the expanse, if you like it (which I have little doubt you will), you want to be in a position to review S4 when it comes out and is fresh and in the publics eye with amazon pushing it etc. The way I view the expanse is picture BSG, combined with GoT, with a dash of 1950's film noire detective tale mixed in.

This is very difficult. All shows that I adore. Stargate is an institute, a beautiful franchise with movies and series, but perhaps a bit much for reactions. BSG is the most "reactable", with cool twists, reveals and deep character development. The Expanse is the most topical, a very serialized and still ongoing show. In the end I did vote for stargate, for the simple reason that I don't think anyone has ever reacted to it.

I definitely think Stargate is your best bet. It's a staple of the genre, and I know you'd really like it. Plus there's 10 whole seasons, as well as two spin-offs that I think you'll love as well! I really think you'll like the humour and banter of Stargate the most. Can't go wrong.

BSG and The Expanse are both amazing, plus Stargate is in the same vein as Doctor Who. The Expanse and BSG are more serious scifi/drama, so that would be a nice change.
