Sarah Jane adventures is a continuation of a classic who companion in a kids show (but made to appeal to everyone, especially because of Elizabeth Sladen from the 3rd and 4th doctor eras.)(roughly 10-13 yos i think ). My dad often watched Sarah Jane with us because he enjoyed it too and he knew the character from the doctor who he grew up with. Torchwood is the opposite. With Jack it's meant to be doctor who but for adults. I remember my parents having it on on TV when I came downstairs for a drink at night. Class is much more recent. It loosely ties in to capaldis run and the main characters are older teenagers at school but it's just at adult as Torchwood can be
