Finally found time to get through your season 4 reactions, which makes my second watch through. I'm just gonna condense my thoughts for the whole season here. I honestly found this a very slow season. Not bad, Amazon's money shows for sure, but I guess it's like S1 in that it's most;y setup for future stories. Even S1 got great toward the end though and S2 and 3 were through the roof and really kept you on the edge of your seat. The New Terra/Ilus plot especially dragged on way too long. Murtry was a fun villain, but he was no Mao or Errinwright in shrewdness. He was just a bad guy. And all the rest of the story on that planet felt like it deserved 3 or 4 episodes, not 10. Likewise Bobbie's story with Esai took all season doing nothing for a fiery finale this episode. The election story felt like padding to me. Setting up Marco Inaros as the next big bad was the 1 truly interesting thing happening this season IMO, and that was the back burner story of the season. Miller getting some closure was good, but ultimately the Ilus story feels like it's not going to really do much going forward. Likewise Bobbie's story served only to inform Chrisjen and link them up, and the election plot was just to ensure she had no power to help her. To compare to chess, it's like the first few moves before any pieces are taken off the board. The dullest part of the game. Aside from the Inaros plot, the one thing I REALLY liked this season was Ashford's growth as a character. With him taking command from Drummer and trying to destroy the ring, he was a soft villain of S3 and felt like a bitter, misguided old man, but still an interesting character. S4 really gave Ashford redemption. There's something about a former pirate now running anti piracy ops and preaching peace and a better future for all. Ashford came across as wise and humble all season, and as one of the few voices of reason saying we should all be trying to work together rather than carrying on old feuds. That scene of him watching the recording of his daughter shows you he's fighting for what could have been, and still can be for many others. He's fighting for something he'll never see, because he knows nobody should lose what he did. That deserves respect. And if you gotta go out, few ways are more badass than spending your last moments singing a shanty while refusing to give your executioner the pleasure of hearing you beg, while at the same time playing him into revealing his plan so you can send a warning. RIP Ashford, RIP Miller. S5 is all set to be the best yet.

One thing I noticed this season was the music på Ilus - it had some really cool instruments creating the atmosphere. I gotta say, for a split second I changed my mind about Ashfor in that I always figured he was recording when he was in the airlock and I thought maybe at the end when it ”sent” that maybe it was also a locater beacon so he could get picked up. And NOW I’m wondering if he planted a tracker on Marcos’s ship. Anyway, RIP to Ash. Maybe we will see him in flashbacks!

Anyways, I was just about to watch it when I saw your little sneak-peek with the sad face and the oh no'ing. I'll try again tomorrow.
