So to go into a little detail (this isn't explained and it's not a part of canon, it's just kinda how Oda decided to theme the character) Montblanc is a french dessert that prominently features chestnuts. Members of the Montblanc family have a chestnut on their head, and Cricket specifically has a tattoo that says "Maroon" - not referencing the color, but rather the french word for chestnut. Oda does this a lot, where he'll just kinda fixate on something obscure or hyper-specific and run with it for inspiration.

2024-07-22 23:10:26 +0000 UTCI love how much this arc feels like a typical pirate adventure so far. Ancient treasure, cryptic clues, even a spooky jungle trek. Arachnophobia strikes again. I'd reassure you, but A), I don't want to spoil, and B), I don't actually remember if the spiders will continue to be a thing. Gonna have to find out the hard way. ^^;
