2025-01-07 21:36:32 +0000 UTCYes they did, but *Yuuasa* did not. He was not involved in DanDaDan. He stepped down as president of the company in 2020 and then took a break after Inu-Oh in 2021 and as far as I'm aware hasn't really done anything of note since. My comment was specifically about Yuuasa as he's the actual animator credited on Food Chain so I just didn't think it was relevant to mention DanDaDan or Scott Pilgrim.

2025-01-07 04:22:27 +0000 UTCI would still love you to watch Centaurworld, very much like Adventure Time in terms of being a mix of very weird, creative setting and humor with surprisingly mature overarching plot and genuine emotional beats and character development... and ALSO a great musical along the lines of Hazbin Hotel.

2025-01-07 02:55:39 +0000 UTCMy absolute favorite guest animated episode and up there with some of the best normal episodes imo. The animator who did this was Masaaki Yuuasa who is a very well known Japanese animator/director/producer known for his eclectic styles and critically lauded projects. While he was at Madhouse he created/directed the animes Kemonozume and Kaiba. Then his adaption of Tomihiko Morimi's novel The Tatami Galaxy was very well received and brought him attention in North America as it was the first of his works to be actually released there. After that he started his own company Science SARU with Eunyoung Choi and the studios very first work was, you guessed it, this episode of Adventure time. He would go on to make shows and films that you might be familiar with: Ping Pong the Animation (imo one of the best anime *ever*), The Night is Short, Walk on Girl, and Devilman Crybaby.
