Elysium Chapter 6

Will you be my fren? :P

One of these days, I'll get back on a normal sleep schedule. Today is obviously not that day. I dunno. 12-5am is just such a peaceful time when I don't have to worry about people messaging or distracting me.

So, here's my random question of the day. What naming conventions have you seen in MMOs where each IGN is unique? Something I've always noticed is that the first players are all one word names, and it gets progressively longer as more and more people join in, because the names they wanted are taken. It was seen as something of a status symbol, the shorter your name was, because that meant you were fast enough to get it early.

Also, I did a bit more worldbuilding today, and realized I'd made a mistake on Ash's mana, so I had to change a few things. If you only read chapters right when they came out, you might want to skim through things again, because I have had to go back a few times to fix stuff. Also, I decided not to use real names for herbs and fish, because I just don't want to deal with "That's now how things work/look/etc." So yeah. If you have any fun plant, fish, or even monster ideas, feel free to drop them here or in discord. I've been doing most of my worldbuilding while in the voice channel on discord in the afternoons, so if that's something you enjoy, do pop in and say hi. ^_^

Anyway, hope you're having a lovely start to the week. <3 Thanks for your support!

and the glitter makes stealth impossible or draws aggro or something

As an idea of something created by a sadistic developer: Glittershrooms. mushrooms that produce extremely fine glitter, which, if you brush up against it, you will be extremely glittery until you get your clothes cleaned by a professional.

Hahaha, I posted that out then a few minutes later thought about giving a couple examples, then thought to myself. "Y'know I'm probably overthinking this"

Lel, honestly, the difference was there, she was just oversimplifying. Don't worry about it too much.

Another great chapter. Not sure if you have thought about the implications on the virtual economy of making restorative items made by cooks and alchemists work just the same. Normally stuff made by cooks require cheaper and more plentiful items as well as cheaper equipment to prepare, but as a result don't have as large of an effect, though often buffs given by food while giving less numerically might last longer. As a result cooked items are cheaper to make but sell for less, while alchemical items that are more powerful are more expensive to make but sell for much more. By making the only difference taste people are less likely to want the alchemical version (since in the vrmmo they actually have to taste it) so even if the cooked version is slightly more expensive they are more likely to buy it. Now if alchemical ingredients are still more expensive than cooking ingredients cooking becomes much more profitable than alchemy which means fewer people willing to put in the time and effort to train alchemy, making less chance of the cool mid-late game alchemy stuff getting discovered (still gonna happen eventually but might take MUCH longer to happen). Also if you are planning on going the route of vrmmo economy affects real world economy (which even if there isn't a direct cash out option will still happen, I mean people auction in-game items on eBay and other such sites already). So if you want to keep them the same except for taste the cooked version needs to require much expensive ingredients than the alchemical version and/or a higher skill level to make. That or just be aware of the effect the choice will have on the economy.
