I think the US would benefit from a strong 3rd party. However, I think the one you need is a new conservative party to replace the MAGA-fication of the Republicans. True conservatives who will never vote for a Democrat are left with no alternative but to vote for the twisted mutation of the Republican party. A new conservative party would steal their power and influence and provide a legitimate balance of conservative and liberal values in government instead of the current crazy vs sane dynamic.

It's terrifying to see how dangerously conservative your country is around issues of gun control, education, sexuality... I hope it's only a loud minority but only your next election will tell. Unfortunately, a country that prides itself on freedom legislatively supported racism for FAR too long after the civil war. You didn't allow all your citizens to vote until 1968! If you don't make a course correction, I dread the outcome. I don't think America or Americans are "rotten," but they need to step up and prove that to themselves and the world. America is STILL a great country, but your propagandized exceptionalism has clouded self-awareness for too long.

2023-05-06 02:00:37 +0000 UTCThis whole thing just makes me sick. In elementary school I remember being surprised when I learned that the kkk was still around and hadn't vanished or died off. I thought society had evolved. As I've gotten older I've come to realize how little people have actually changed since the civil war. Lynchings still happen in this country regularly and there is a huge chunk of our culture that endorses them either passively or explicitly. Our country LOVES murdering "undesirables." Heck even people who are supposedly liberal still fall prey to this thought process. I remember growing up as a kid and being appalled by how many peers unironically said stuff like "batman should just use guns and kill all the criminals! That would solve all of gotham's problems!" America's soul is rotten to the core.
