ASK ME ANYTHING!

I'll post the link here as always but I'll be live on Monday 1/15 @ 5pm Pacific so submit your questions before then...

What do you think the main elements of cop shows are that people like about them, and do you think it's possible to separate those elements from the copaganda of it all? Obviosuly that can vary a lot by the specific show (people are probably getting something different out of Brooklyn Nine Nine than Law And Order or CSI). But I think the power and authority police are given in shows feels very hard to remove from that media but also very central to the problem of how people see policing and the criminal legal system. Maybe to put it another way, are there any shows that scratch a similar itch as a viewer without relying on depicting police in harmful ways (or maybe just without being about police ar all)?

Heya. Happy 2024. Here are my questions. 1. Don't know how big of a sci fi fan you are in general but I wanted to randomly ask if you have seen the show farscape. Slightly relevant to the copaganda series given that the antagonists are a facistic police for called "the peacekeepers." If you have seen it then great! I can now bring the total number of people I know if who have watched it up to 10. 2. Given the current state of the world and the actioms being committed by the Biden administration (like trying to subvert congressional authorization to sell more weapons to Israel) are you going to revisit US imperialism/colonialism in a future video? Perhaps discussing how the supreme court has contributed to the expansion of US military power? 3. How has the copaganda series shaped your views about the power of television as meaningful art vs its ability to pacify the masses and disseminate messages that reaffirm the status quo? Do you feel more cynical about tv's capacity to serve as an artistic medium that can offer nuanced critiques of society or more hopeful?
